View Full Version : Tent pole rubber band break
Anyone got advice on fixing the rubber inside a collapsible tent pole?
3 camping trips and I finally remembered to get it fixed while not camping.

Depending on the location of the break, you could try stitching it back together. The tips should either thread out or pull out so you can untie it from the tips. Start at one end, pull pole sections off the shock cord until you find the break, stitch it back together with an overlap...
reassembly is a bit of fun but not difficult.
Replacement is the better option. EMS or other camping store should have the replacement shock-cord. Call to make sure but be sure to measure the diameter of the cord before calling. There are a couple of sizes and yes, it does make a difference.

I happen to have a bag of tent pole shock cord sitting on my gear rack. I'll bring it by if I can borrow your helmet cam for a week or so. I'm doing some videography for a crew of road bikers and would love to get some footy from within the pack.

Sounds like a deal!
