View Full Version : Carrying skis
Dont just carry your board under your arms, as advocated by the last guy. Get your skis in a backpack too. If you are using your big pack 'cause you are staying at Hermit Lake, just lash a little one on the back too that can carry your skis. Da Kine makes a really small one that costs less than 50 bucks and the skis gos sideways so you wont kick into the when hiking the really steep pitches in the ravine or out. Sorry for my corporate plug but it really mkes life easier and you might seriously be able to take another run b/c of less fatigue.
Need to know?

Crampons sure make it easier hiking up.. and back down especially from Tucks down to HoJo's. Was snow right from Pinkham a few weeks ago so imagine will still be lots on the trail for a few more weeks.

I've hiked up for the first time with crampons last May. What a difference and well worth the investment (hopefully you use them more than once). A decent sized backpack works best, strap your board to the back of your pack so its not banging your head or back of your heels.
