Hey dave: another suggestion - the chat logo, can you make it change if someone else clicked on it in the past 15min or so?
Could be good to let people know someone was interested in chatting... although it has the opposite effect that you'll know that there is no-one in chat and it won't get clicked as much.
On that topic: You keep track of post times right? Maybe do a query to map out the time most people are on. You can tell when we're reading too can't you? Might be an interesting stat.
