Interesting article el-bagr. I think on T4T were just plan to emotional to be satisfied with the standard ;) :p   etc.

Although graemlins express the authors emotions, extending the idea from...

:)

to

:bum: :)

seems to be necessary to really get in touch with ones real emotion.

and a simple...

M@ you drank a whole case of beer today?

is much better relayed as...

:ma: you drank a whole :keg: of beer today? :cooldog:

Come to think of it, I don't think many forums (at least all the ones I have frequented) use graemlins for anything beyond the enhanced emotion character set (including those deaded bouncing blobs. Has anyone seen any other interesting uses of graemlin coding?

Dave: Quick! Patent using emoticons or gremlins as substituions for commonly used phrases in a chat room. Then sue someone for violating it, and use the profit$ to fund this board.

I wonder if I can write an entire sentence with graemlins

:jollyj: :ducttape: :mapleleaf:  :backpack: :happyhiker: :shelters: :hojos: :mtwashington:

Translation: I ducttape Canadian beer to my backpack hiking to the hermit lake shelters near hojos on mount washington.
