We're struggling over here with too much snow! :p Seriously, lifts and tunnels have been closed and the mountains are frequently socked in, but one must persevere....and ski the pow!! :D

Yeah, I hope you guys get half of what is falling here. That will be more than enough for you and make driving and skiing easier here!

We're getting dumps of 3 feet over a day or two.

Been taking advantage of the bluebird weather for the past 4 days straight.

The Brenva Glacier via the Southwest Face of Tour Rond was pretty good today.

Presis will be picking up a foot today and tonight, with some more not far behind. Perhaps your return trip timing will work out just so ;)

BTW, that's some very nice reporting!

Cool! I want to bring back the Kuros and put them to work!

Just bagged the major groomers on the Italian side in good snow conditions, and got my money's worth out of my tunnel pass (7euros each way instead of 35).

Morgan was worked by the Brenva after 2 rest days...

I guess I will take a couple rest days after 4 days on and develop a follow-on plan...

:doh::doh::cry:
The advantage here is that you can just climb higher for better conditions.

Last year was poor in europe but we skied lots of pow anyway....

So? The new sticks are just what the doctor ordered?

Judging by the quantity and quality of the snow, there has to be a high smile factor.

BRO 187s are very good but a lot of ski to manage in AT boots.

Just your typical Chamonix skiing....;)

West and Northwest aspects were scoured by a big wind, so a number of lines are heinous hard pack or ice.

But, every day out so far has been great pow skiing.

We need a big refill with no wind going from warm to cold rather than endless bluebird....

Another meter of pow and three days skiing fresh. Too bad it warmed up down low....

The best snow is up high where it is lighter, but not over there where it was wind scoured.

On a pretty good sequence for the pow train - actually pretty hard to do better, given the weather and conditions.

Am I the only one to find these photos as highly offensive? This kind of gloating is akin to waving a savory grilled steak in face of a starving man.

If I was a bigger person or having any kind of ski season at all, I guess I would be happy for you but I guess I am just small, shallow person condemned to a season of skiing small hills in shallow snow.

Wreck a perfectly good pair of skis last weekend trying to make a go of it out there. Knew I was taking core shots all the way down but was shocked to find a 6" long edge to edge piece of p-Tex missing from one of my skis at the car. That pretty much sums up my season so far.

The pictures sure are painful to see with such a slow year in the north east... But if i am not getting any action it is good to know someone.

One thing he doesn't directly tell you is 3 out of every 4 days is cloud f'ed in the alps. Which is painful because you know the goods are there, you just can't see them. The fog vertigo can be enough to make you sick... Then add in some wind and you won't know which end is up.

jT thanks for the pictures... I visit this site for the ski****, not a link to some dumbarses blog (although you did start with a cross post you did make up for it with some sweeeeet pics)

My Chamonix TRs are a guide for skiing the conditions rather than some ill-conceived check list.

You can hire my friends, who are Cham guides, for a week or two and get the most out of the conditions you luck upon.

This year has been exceptionally good in terms of the volume of snow but 2010 was really good too. It is probably a good year to buy a plane ticket and get over here!

...It is probably a good year to buy a plane ticket and get over here!I wish it were a good year for me, but patience will be my guide first. The new knee isn't ready for all that goodness and I won't go so far for the Green Circles and the odd Blue Square it might be ready for, in April.

'Till then, TRs and imagination remain the only skiing I'll be doing :D
