Thanks to Mikey, we have a report and fantasic photos taken June 8th, 2003. Great Mikey! ...

Skiing was great, I mainly skiied left gully, caretaker at HOJO's recommended staying over that way. Mainly overcast day w/patches of blue sky, visibility was fine in the ravine, but summit was in the clouds all day. Snow in left gully was nice & soft, great line, not to much worry of undermining near edges. Snow in the bowl was little firmer but still nice skiing, a few crevasses scatttered throughout the bowl as well Great to be skiing in June!!

Thank you, Mickey. Great photos. They rejuvenated my limbic system.....

You make the Left gully look :skiplow:
Were you able to ski all the way down or did you need to :happyhiker: between the left gully and the bowl?

I was also there Sunday, though didn't get into Tucks until kind of late (around 2). Nice weather, great snow, relatively low undermining danger, so overall a surprisingly good ski day for June this year.

Mickey/Castlerock:

There is a mismatch between the photo of the ravine someone (?M@) posted at the end of last week and this photo of the left gully. I can't find the other pic now, but as I recall, it looked like the left gully was unskiable. Here it looks like there is a reasonable base, at least in parts. Any idea if it's likely to be skiable now?

These photos were from early June, according to the poster. Left Gully is gone by now...Here is the link M@ found a while ago that shows the current bowl.

As you can see, as long as you link it during a clear day, (currently 10:35 EDT 6/30)....Oops, it isn't clear...Well that's Tucks!

elwood:
looks good now Elwood, sober up. There is about a tablespoon of snow left.... :skierfrowning: How can that possibly look good - Even I wouldn't be crazy enough to drive/hike up to ski it.

I need REAL snow.... :skifemcool:

Elwood drinks      after  . Maybe he is just blind drunk? LOL (Sorry Elwood my friend--In reality I'm just kidding...I think.) Anyways Mum, isn't it better to ski a mere tablespoon of snow in July than to have to wait an interminably long time to ski more??? Got to admit, though, the thought of humping 30 or so pounds of gear all the way in when the temps are above 80 DOES leave something to be desired. BUT!!! If I can ever manage to find one of my non-skiing, drunken buddies to haul my stuff in for a few beers or something I'll be up there to ski it even if there is only HALF a tablespoon of ambrosia left on the ground! Plus, think of the non-skiing hikers and other conservative folks out there that would be able to take the story home about the lunatics that they encountered on there once yearly, fair-weather hiking pilgramige to OUR Mecca! lol OK, enough of my prattle on this subject. Talk to you soon. Have fun, be safe. Al :skistooge:
