Affix Snow
05-18-2004, 10:18 AM
Well, what a weekend.
Left Philly area at 4:31 am.
Arrived at Dolly copp campground around 1pm.
Got ahold of Skilas, KMRN, and Kfarrar (who were on the east snow fields) before we hit the auto road...on the radios!
Drove up top and descended the grueling 4.7 minutes to the patch of snow, to meet up with the group. Great 150ft vertical of snow. My two friends Kev, steve, and i introduced ourselves and we were off. Skilas, KMRN, and Kfarrar friggin rip!!!! The snow was great and weather nice.
They had built a little jump and my buddy kev improved on it, as he then threw a backflip off it! What a nut! We took some video and ill post a link as soon as its edited. Anyway, We rode for a couple of hours sessioning the booter and took off just before the rain and wind hit.
Skilas...we got down, an thanks for callin!
iT WAS A PLEASURE meeting other T4Ters, they rocked, and thanks again for the help!!!!! Mad river next year!
After we left we met KMRN (She rocks!)
down bottom and went to dinner/ drinks/laughs.
Went to bed at 9, got up to rain at 6:20am. We went anyway and got up to the ravine around 10:30 or somthing. Couldnt see 10ft in front of you!!! Very scary. So Kev and myslef hikied up center headwall with jeff and kevin, two dudes we met on te way up. Jeff started of and showed us how its done!!! Then we took off and made the first of many runs. Extremely hard to see, so everything seemed that much more technical, but first run was amazing!
On the second run, while sitting up in one of te center gullies, the clouds broke breifly and i think i saw god? Regadless, steep, steep ,steep!!!!!! a DREAM COME TRUE!
Hiked sluice and that was the best run, and longest. After that, the clouds broke for good! Met up with Harkin Banks and buddy Dave. They rip. Later, harkin broke his binding but still hadthe biggest friggin smile on his face cause he was in tucks! Kudos on the posotive attitude harkin! He took some pics/video of Dave, Kev, and myself riding what was left of the chute....insane!!!! Hope you find your camera harkin!!!!!
All in all, we had an amazing day. No crowds and great company. It was great meeting harkin, and Jeff and kev...hope to ride with ya next year!
Got 6 runs in and ate alot of food. Cant wait for next year.
I will post a link to my buddy's site to view pics and video as soon as he gets it up and runnin' if any one cares to view.
One last thing......
This site is the best. It prepared me for a great first time and many future trips. I met some great people and hope to ride with them again. Thank you very much, and if you read this whole thing, treat yourself to a beer.
See yall soon!
