We've shared pics of the foliage changing, first frosts and mountain snowfalls. The seasons are changing; winter is coming to the northern hemisphere.

Out in the waves, the seasons are changing. Fall hurricane surf season is being replaced by "winter" NE groundswells. Last weekend I started wearing gloves and booties in the water for the first time since May. (Absolutely great surf last night, by the way, with the nearly-full moon rising orange on the horizon, then silver overhead, flashing in the curl of each wave face.)

The season has started coming to my living room, too. The other night, as I was tuning my skis, I nicked my thumb on my newly-sharpened edges. In season, it seems I get a minor nick from sharp edges at least once a week (I do like to keep them sharp). Been a little while since that's happened.

It's time to cull my vegetable garden, now long barren of fruits. Almost time to clean up my boat "garden", getting them ready for storage in the cellar.

Most of all, with roughly two or three weeks until a certainty of skiing, it's time to pick up diamond steel and wax iron and get ready to slide, slide, slide!

A poetic tribute to the seasonal changes that are the essence and beauty of New England.

Nice post el-bagr! Like you, I've been enjoying the fall surf, only in my kayak, while riding out a knee injury. Last week's overhead+ was a little beyond my comfort zone, but I'll be back out there this week. It's the time to change from my bathing suit & paddlig jacket to a 3/4 suit under a dry top & splash pants. Also hoping to hike Guido this week to test out the new knee brace I got (can't get scoped till January so I'm desparate), the season can't be far off!

Drop me a line before you hike guido - I'll throw my boots and gardening tools in the trunk. I'm about 20 min away from the trailhead.
