View Full Version : Storm next week...???
http://hurricane.accuweather.com/adcbin/public/headlines.asp?iws=5
The current weather pattern across the nation suggests that a strong storm system may develop over the next few days. A deep trough in the jet stream is expected to form over Texas and New Mexico, with a low pressure system at the surface. Meanwhile, plenty of warm and moist Gulf of Mexico air is positioned just to the east, ready to move northward and cause precipitation to break out. Could this be a major winter storm for much of the country?

We got out and rode a couple hours after the rain ended around 1:30...
The middle station area is 1/2 gone... Some ditches forming... Getting bare but managable..
Glad it ended when it did.... MAN - it friggin poured....

Duck and Cover.
I think he meant "parlay", as in leveraging a gambit.

My fingers are crossed... we really need some :snowflakes: !!!!
Nothing on NWS yet, but the forcast there only goes through the weekend. It looks like a little mixed precip in the wed-thurs range, but I'm afraid it might come down as niar (prompting much more  )

Well, the NWS has released their new forcast, and they're calling for 1-2" in Franconia, so probably more up at Cannon... should bode well for conditions. Here's the local SKIVT-L "meteorologist," Scott Braaten's take on it (and I've found in the past he often seems to be fairly accurate):
"I don't have too much time right now to go into too much detail but a
system will be effecting the northeast come late Tuesday night into early
Thursday morning.
Only real frozen/freezing precip will be across the 'dacks, northern
Greens, and northern Whites up into Maine. Precip will break out late
Tuesday night after midnight in the form of snow and sleet north of a line
from Watertown, NY to Glens Falls, NY to Rutland, VT to Conway, NH.
Precip should change over to plain rain as low levels warm in the Valleys
by mid morning. A quick inch or two is possible in the Champlain Valley
and the other larger valleys while it will continue to snow for a few more
hours in the mountains. Then there it will change over to freezing rain
or rain by afternoon. There could be some minor ice problems across some
of the Green and White Mountains. Mainly in the northeast kingdom in VT
as well as in the higher peaks region of the Whites. Depending on the
storm track, the highest elevations might not even switch over and could
see all snow above 4,000 feet.
Basically I'm looking for 1-3 inches in the valleys with 2-5 inches of
snow in the mountains along with sleet, followed by some glazing of
freezing rain. Then it switches all back to snow on Wednesday night with
a couple more inches of upslope snow in the Adirondacks and Greens with
wrap around snows effecting the White Mountains and up into Maine.
Someone in Maine (Sugarloaf?) might never switch over and there is a
potential for an 8-10 inch snowfall there."
With any luck he'll be right!!!

Looks like just shy of 4 chickens for Mt. Mansfield in VT... and as usual, the jay cloud is getting it's share.
