For sale, Garmont GSM SL AT boots, size 26/26.5, for $125, plus shipping. Selling b/c moving to a Dynafit-compatible boot.
This is the predeccesor to the current Garmont G-Ride $500 boot. An old review available here:
http://www.couloirmag.com/gear/randonnee/boots/at_boot_reviews_nov00.htm
If you want to see them in person and try them on, I live in Boston, and might be able to meet up at any ASC resort (that “bronze” season pass was too hard to resist), Wa-Wachusett, or many backcountry trailheads.
The skiing performance has been significantly improved with:
- Raichle Flexon tongues (original tongues also included);
- Stiffening plastic on the upper cuff (easily removable via screw rivets); and,
- Replaced shell’s soft foam heel insert with hard plastic insert. (A highly regarded alpine downhill bootfitter told me to do this -- I'm not convinced it's made much difference though as opposed to the first two improvements.)
Caveats regarding personal fit modifications:
- Added heel lift inside shell. (Easily removed of course.)
- Minor stretching of the top of the shell toe box and minor grinding of the bottom of the shell’s toebox (for a bit more big toe wiggle room).
- Cut the toe box seams of the liner (to allow the liner to expand a bit into the expanded toe box).
- To gain some instep room, increased size of tongue-area cutout in lower shell, ground plastic on liner tongue, and trimmed some of the overlapping material on the liner.
- Expanded the shell’s heel cup via some very minor grinding.
Condition:
- the footbeds are brand new, never-ever used;
- the velcro powerstraps are brand new, never-ever used;
- the liner’s laces are in near-new condition;
- the liners are in good condition (especially since I used thermoflex liners for a season and a half), with absolutely zero foot odor (I was very zealous about drying them thoroughly after skiing); and,
- the shell upper cuff is in very good condition;
- the vibram sole is in good condition; and,
- the lower shell has lots of wear at the toe and heel from rock scrambling and being in bindings, etc.
Pics available at:

[Actually, they’re not up yet, but will be soon - right now only the upper cuff reinforcements are pictured, and the after-market thermo liners are shown, which are not for sale.]
Will take additional pics of areas of concerns for any interested buyers.

Some additional info from Garmont:
For touring, walking, or climbing the GSM is very lightweight, compact, and agile. Its anatomical shape fits close to the foot, making for a comfortable and enjoyable uphill. The cuff has a free-hinging walk mode with a wide range of movement. Sole is easy-walking and sensitive for climbing. Uses Nexus technology with two stiffnesses of Pebax-one that is softer to wrap securely around your leg, the other providing a stiff, supportive frame for leverage and control. The result is exceptional performance and comfort to bring out your best turns.
The GSM has been meticulously designed to satisfy all the needs of ski touring. For skinning up, walking, or climbing the GSM is very lightweight, compact, and agile. Its anatomical shape fits close to the foot. The cuff has a free-hinging walk mode with a wide range of movement. Its sole, low-profile with a comfortable rocker, is easy-walking and sensitive for climbing. On the downhills the GSM is superbly supportive. It is the first ski mountaineering boot to use over-injection technology (Nexus). Its Nexus cuff has two stiffnesses of Pebax, one that is softer to wrap securely around your leg, the other providing a stiff, supportive frame for leverage and control.

Hey, I'm up in Manchester, any chance I'd be able to get a peek at those boots? I don't know when or where though... I usually head to Cannon every Wed... (gotta love the $15 NH resident day). I can make a trip to come try them on somewhere else though, as long as it's not too far. Let me know what would work for you. Thanks.

Matt

My wife’s family lives in nearby Bedford. But I might not be up there for awhile. (They’re away on a long trip.)
The other option is to meet up with you on a Sunday afternoon along I-93 (maybe the “safety” rest area just north of the tolls?) when I’m on my way back from skiing up north. I’ll be running some gates at Killington this coming Sunday, and probably in your neck of the woods around 3 in the afternoon or so.
My email address is my posting name here, at a gmail account.
