No. But he is a Pro, so he doesnt care.....he prolly got alot $$$$$ for that photo too.....

Rome doesnt make splitboards for the public anyway.

I did read about it and he said it did hardly anything to his base cause the rock had a nice layer of ice on it.

Agreed. Thats like 90 degrees vert....I think he'd need a parachute. I'd have to witness with my own eyes and then i'd still think there was some sort of trickery...I've seens some crazy stuff in mags like 100plus foot hucks, but that is absolutely the craziest image i've ever seen.

Oh you poor naysayer skiers...... ;)

Maybe you should brush up on your understanding of Degrees and slopes with some rudimentary geometry.....clearly it is not 90degrees....that is a right angle, or in this case it would be a vertical wall. ;)

here is a link to where the rider actually describes it in another Forum....start where it say "jono"

I know its not a total right angle "duh", but man it aint that far off...im still with M@ on this one write up or not...I can write anything....again..I need to see that one with my own eyes...but...crazier things have happened..just looks TOOO sick...pro or not...$$ or not...that looks like a HUGE risk..

How much would you ask for in $$ (on say a bet from a buddy) to do that?

Believe what ever the Hell you want. I dont know why anyone would spend the that much time on it if it wasnt real and incredibly sick!

If i could be in Alberta to do that, id do it for free.....im sure its not about the money to Jonaven.

There will always be naysayers, so i wont waste anymore time trying to "prove it." By the Way, do you believe they landed on the moon? Or do you have to see that with your own eyes too? ;)

Wow some people on this board are WAY touchy ;) joke .......its not like you took the picture and i'm saying you didn't. This is jsut some dude...for what its worth it's probably real, and is super sick, but couldve also EASILY been photoshopped. No doubt.

And yeah I believe we landed on the moon, there VIDEO footage of that...maybe if that pic was a video it would be easier for me to believe...but man we all read tons of ski/board rags and there are some sicks dudes out there and I aint ever seen anything like that...do you know if it made any Board mags? Seems like something some publication wouldve wanted to pic up...?

I was being sarcastic when I said "Photoshopped."

To settle angle arguments:
http://timefortuckerman.com/photopost/data/500/7Slope2-med.gif

Personally - I believe the guy did it, and I believe the photographer picked an excellent angle to make the line look wicked scary. I gotta learn how to do that. Reminds me of a lot of the ski movie shots done from a helicopter - where they get to pick ANY angle they want, and they always pick the one that makes the slope look pretty damn close to 90 deg. (not 90%, 90 deg, i.e. vertical)

Sick picture.

Ok you got me...I've done that same wall, and I used skis ala Tony (toni) Matt....what I think they were like 8ft tall hickory with leather straps. I put them on my BARE feet before that day on the wall.

Whats up with that Rome snowboard stuff - I'm starting to hear more and more talk about them..

Are they big mountain decks created from freestyle boards???

Story goes....

These guys worked for Burtona and designed the customs and other dope decks. Then when the guy from Louis Vatan ( Ithink thats who it was) took over in running the company, they made "business" decisions and let those guys go. Then they opened up Rome Design Syndicate. They are out of Waterbury VT i think...but somewhere in VT. They make Killer stuff and are getting really popular.

From what ive heard, they arent just offing decks and calling them "big Mountain". Ive seen their line and flexed a couple and they are WAY diff form each other. The one in that pick was custom from the start.

I have been on a Rome Anthem in the pipe and it was wonderful. I have seen a camper full of Rome people at the parking lot at Pinkmans, they were cool, the invited me in for a "safety discussion." Steve Koch rides for them and used their boards on the North face of Everest, they have big mountain credibility in my book. Check out a Rome demo day and ride one.

I like the shot... that would make for a great wall poster!

I think that is a real shot BUT like Stoneman says taken at an angle..... I would say it's like between 45-55 degrees(likely 49-50). I make this judgement based on the 'pushed off' snow from his track. Experience tells me that once snow is loosed on slopes over 50, it doesn't stay and minislides begin, hence pushing more snow down like a snowball effect. Some snow stayed on the rock/ice and his stance is a little more upright.

Do they show any pics depicting the impact at the bottom?

I'ld like to try that on skiis.

Regardless, it's still a cool pic. http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif

And M@.... great slope angle reference! I think I'll print it, laminate it and keep it in my wallet for bar discussions and trailside assesments!

Like most of you I just spent some time staring at that picture, just taking it all in, looking for some reference as to true steepness. The one thing that caught my eye was in the cliff in the upper left corner. What makes me think that the angle is pretty exagerated is how the snow on that little outcropping appears to be hanging on past vertical. (if that was the real angle ) still a sick pic, wouldn't want to have to tune his edges though.
