MAN PROPOSES TO GIRLFRIEND ON SKIS ATOP CROTCHED MOUNTAIN

Bennington, New Hampshire -- / 01-09-05 / When Bethann Fultz was unloading from the top of the West Double Chair at Crotched Mountain on Friday evening, a proposal to be married was the furthest thing from her mind.

When then boyfriend Christopher Clauss, now fiancé, fell to his knees to help Bethann adjust her boots, he popped the question. She was surprised of course, but a moment later, an engagement ring appeared from Christopher’s jacket pocket and found its way on her finger.

2 minutes later, a dozen long stemmed roses appeared along with a bottle of champagne from France and glasses for two. A video camera caught the entire moment on film.

Christopher’s plan went off without a hitch, but it was slightly more elaborate than Bethann knew.

Christopher had been at the mountain the day prior, planning the moment. It had to be a surprise, it had to be caught on video, the roses and champagne had to arrive at the right moment and Bethann had to say “Yes”. Enlisting the help of several employees at Crotched Mountain, a plan was hatched.

A spy would track the couple on the mountain until they arrived at the pre-arranged destination atop the West Double Chair. The spy would then play the role of innocent bystander while being asked to hold Christopher’s video camera for a minute or two. A lift operator would keep the roses hidden and the champagne chilled in nearby snow. When it all came together, everyone involved played the part flawlessly.

“He’s amazing. He’s just amazing.”, said Bethann reflecting on the moment.

“I think that was really cool”, said Kirk Dragon, a lift department supervisor involved with the engagement plan.

Christopher and Bethann have not yet set a date for marriage, but they will always remember their skiing engagement on Crotched Mountain.

Awwwwww! Isn't that sweet? I like the idea of proposing on a mountaintop. Really kewl! My brother proposed on top of Snowmass....or was it Aspen Mtn(Ajax)? One of the two.... We thought she had an accident when she skied up to us in tears. What a relief!http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif

crotch crotch crotch crotch crotch crotch crotch crotch crotch crotch !

Come to think of it, that title does look a tad naughty... oops

Actually I proposed below the summit on Mount Tremblant. I didn't have any wine or roses though... nor a video camera. Although I did have a skierby take our photo with a disposable camera...

I proposed in the trees at Copper. We took a few pictures, and then we lost the camera.

Rule number one of proposing...make sure she is fully awake so she doesn't role over on the ring when you put it on her pillow.

I proposed in the festival of lights here in CT. There was snow on the ground, no Mtn though.

I wanted to get hitched on top of Mount Washington after a hike to the summit but the misses wasnt having that.

Ha ha!

Rule number two of proposing... don't loose your :camera: ! Poor M@...

This reminds me of Everyone Loves Raymond when he recorded football over his wedding video... oops!

This also reminds me that we had disposable cameras at all the tables at our wedding dinner. They are still in the front desk, not yet developed and its been more than 5 years! Any chance of them turning out??? :o

The pics should be fine providing they never got over 90F (don't know metric =) You should get them done soon.... typical shelf life is like 7 yrs depending upon the company. Fujifilms and Kodak last the longest. Hey!... now you can get them put in digi format too! For free quite possibly! So stop being a slacker and get them done! It would make for a great wedding anniv. 'gift'/activity for the both of you to reminicse(sp?).
