Fast growing thread on TGR.
The very accessable ridge off of 9990 chair. 5 minute hike from the top of the lift....top of ridge and bang a left....trees at the bottom of the bowl...I've ridden this maybe 5-6 times...couldnt imagine being swept into the woods :(
I rode that last year... wow...
There's a lot of familiar terrain thats sliding... Big...
That's why I alway wear my tranceiver when out west...

From the day's avy report:
Large and deadly avalanches continued to release early Thursday morning. Activity included at least four large natural avalanches, two avalanches from helicopter skiing test explosives (photo), and a hand full of slides from resort control work. All of these had a 3-5í fracture line depths with the largest in West Monitor (photo) up to 9 feet deep in one section of the crown face. One of these natural avlanches released in skier compacted terrain at one of the local ski areas. These all released due to added weight from wind transported snow over the last 48 hours. The avalanche activity is widespread enough to make most avalanche professionals nervous.
I would expect the activity to slow down today but my own personal pucker factor will not let me toy with any steeper slopes until the avalanche activity stops. I spoke to many people yesterday that agreed that the snowpack is gaining strength but not one of them would consider getting on the big slopes yet. Itís like playing with an armed nuclear bomb. You can probably keep it from exploding but do you want to take the chance.
In addition a photo from the avy report:

That was a huge area although I'm not surprised considering there have been slides in that region in early December which is earlier than the 'norm'. Anyone sliding out that way, remember the original base was and is unstable and the risk is much higher. They got too much snow, too early. I'm certain that we'll about many more slides out there this season.
The poor souls had ducked the ropes out there. They think it may have been 5 that are buried.
If you do duck the ropes, you best have the right gear or pay the consequences.
Bummer about this situation. http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif
