Smuggs Sunday-nothing like hiking out back :) can't wait!

Just moved into the new digs on the Sugarbush access road, we got 4" of fresh last night (at 1600 ft), and it was still coming down when I left at 6. :)

Killington....big terrain...and season's pass. But if anyone has a 2fer to the Bush, I'd love to check that out...I ride though but don't let that count against me!

By the way...hit the Loaf during the Nor'easter...UT powder up to my waist. Top lifts closed, took T bar up as high as possible and hiked the rest. 5 ft vis but no tracks other than my own....AMAZING....nothing has beat that yet.
Saw Tucks has high avy danger today...looks "warm" for tomorrow...anyone have a clue wether it will be safe enought for L gulley or chute Thurs 24th?

not going to be near a comp anymore...if anyone hear's it's going to be particularly unsafe tomorrow..please drop me a line to save a long drive and hike 207 319 5858

jdegraaf: Avalanch danger is HIGH right now - I wouldn't "Count" on it being low tommorow. I would PLAN on it being high still, and being faced wtih the "NOGO" decision when you arrive at Pinkham.

Sugarbush - Sunday.

Suprise suprise - I am 88% Sugarbush SUNDAY.

I believe that's Elwood, Ski&Ride and 2planks expected? Gonna have to put a car at the bottom of the brook.

Awwwwww shiiiiiiiit! We gonna have a wrecking crew up there! Update on me however, I may only be able to do a half day. Still working out of something for the morning...

I'll be there. Friday and Saturday too! Saturday could be the powderday, but the latest runs are diminishing and delaying the event.

Saturday will be the powderday, according to the forecast. Unfortunately, I have stuff to take care of on Saturday. Hopefully I can get it all doen and at least get a few runs in a Kmart.

 i effed up the knee whilst skiing yesterday.....had to quit by 11:30

skiing was pretty sweet up till then though. i does look like i will still be there sunday (i hope) lots of rest and ice till then and MAYBE, just MAYBE i can ride my board as it's a bit easier on the knees, that's what i'm hoping anyways.

put me at 50% at this point.....

as far as hitting slidebrook, put me at 0%
you can take the shuttle bus that runs between north and south, it will pick you up. you just have to time it right or else you could end up waiting a 1/2 hr at worst.a small price to pay for the pow.

M@ you know where the goods are, right? I am totally down. I'll do my best to look like I am tele skiing, but I will go down anything (except guys and sweaty chicks)... We must do this.

M@
02-25-2005, 09:28 AM
I know the way to slide brook, paradise woods, poop chute and though I've never done it, I know the way to the church rock and would LOVE to do it sunday.

I also have some friends up there who've been skiing the bush for decades and would be more than happy to lead a few fellow beer buyers into some other stuff that I've never even done.

But there's like a dozen ways down slidebrook alone to entice and entertain.

Plus - I know a short run off Castlerock that tends to keep the goods for a long time... Might even be fresh on sunday.

But it's all abotu slidebrook baby.

I'm at about 90% right now. Driving up Saturday 8ish. Where's everybody gonna be sat night?

I'm at 75% - still waiting on my friend w/ condo to confirm she + fiance will be there Sat. Last I knew she had either food poisoning or the flu. I still may just drive up Sunday morning (I'm too cheap to get a hotel there during holiday season). If so, I'll be on 9-14.

It's looking like I am definitely going to be able to do a full day at the bush. Who's got radios, and how and when are we meeting up?

M@
02-25-2005, 10:19 AM
I'lll bring my radio - and I'm gonna start over at south. My favorite bartender in the world serves over at Castle rock pub - and I'm more familar with the woods at south than north. Though I hear that north has lots of woods, if we hook up with my local friends I'll head over there.

i'll have a radio tuned at 9-14, however i'm sure you won't want to ride with me as it's going to be a groomer cruiser day....no trees for me

man it sucks to get old

elwood
02-25-2005, 10:35 AM
Hey, I'm a tele n00b, so I won't be spending the entire day in the woods. One run may just kick my a$$. So I may be hitting the cordouroy with you 2planks...

ski&ride
02-25-2005, 10:45 AM
I'll have a radio - not sure where I'm starting but I'll be mostly cruising on groomed myself. I don't want to test fate w/ trees before my team's upcoming state championships. But I would love to meet up w/ everyone for some runs, and of course beer afterwards.

Groomers all day? Why bother going to sugarbush? Just kidding. I'm gonna be in the trees a lot. I'll have the camera so I'll do some groom-a-broom-brroms with ya'll but I wanna moslty look for freshies in the brook and beyond paradise.

I probably will not be online saturday past 8pm. That's when I head to the valley. NHSKi/Ski&Ride/Other NH : Anyone interested in a carpool saturday night? I have to drop some stuff off at a friends house sunday on the way home (base of access road) but would love some company for the 3hr drive.

Option #1 I've got a buddy whose outta town who lives at the base of the mountain road - gotta check if it's kewl if I stay at his place. I'm pretty sure he has "Weekend Warrioes" i.e. folks who have paid him for bedspace on weekends for the season. Tricksy situation that one.

Option #2 Buddy who has a ski house up there - said I can come and crash but to check with him first - have an email and voice mail to him. He's up there all week with his fam skiing, so no immediate response.

Option #3 Burlington - Sisters & Friends I can stay with there.

Option #4 Friends of Friends who have extended the "Stay whenever you want dood!" kinda thing. Y'all know how those usually play out.

Somehow I missed the whole second half of this thread. Just got in. The woods are prime, The groomers are nice, the bump runs are fluff with icy troughs.

The woods are the only place to be. I was in Xmas tree, Hueys, Jester woods, Between Paradise and Ripcord, Between Organ and Ripcord, Grinders down low. There was no reason to head out to Slidebrook or ski a groomer. If we are lucky more snow Fri night/Sat.

Looking forward who can ski Tuesday?

i'm at 55% for riding on tuesday....alll a matter of how the knee is feeling monday and what the doc. says. :D

I AGREE! there is no need for groomers, but when you are injured, it is sometimes better than nothing.

Change of plans - friends w/ condo will not be in VT this weekend. They offered to bring me up next weekend, and ski locally w/ me this Sunday instead (Sunapee). So that's the new plan.

And yes, M@, I will be doing *some* glades ;) . It's just a matter of precaution. I am sooooo close to finishing P.T. on my almost-better knee, and one stupid mistake can wreck my season of hard work, towards winning a state title in my other winter sport I love. Call me superstitious, but I'm heading out west for spring skiing to make up for it!

So, anyone at Sunapee 2/27 give me a hollar, or at the Bush next Sunday.

Okay: I have contacted my ski-housed friend, and he says they have beds open for saturday night - $25 for a bed. $30 for Bed+Breakfast. I'm pretty sure they have a keg on tap, and I know they are fun group.

So - If someone wants to car-pool from New Hampster - OR if anyone wants to meet in the sugarbush valley somewhere (probably the Hyde Away) let me know.

Elwood - you should come up sat night, $25 a bed is easy.

Hey M@. Does that op pop up every now and then?? In the MR Valley we usually stay at Peppers Lodge. We will never again. The old owners moved and sold the hot-tub :envy: . Sat. night the pipes froze...it wasnt really all that cold!! Same things happened ther last year. Sux not having ANY running water in the morning. But the straw this time was they closed the kitchen...the breakfast there were great.
The Garrison looks fairly affordable.

Anywho we met up with jdw at MRG and did some really good woods stuff. Most all piste runs were skied out. 20th hole was pretty hammered down till the middle were you get rewarded by venturing. Woods off fall line and below the mid-station on Bunny were great. Chimney was pretty skied out though. Woods off the LT via the double were in good shape too.

Cliff: The ski-house deal is that you gotta be friends with a member, that is, you have to be someone's guest. I guess if your guest has a friend or two it's no big deal. I think the reason is so one of the members is always responsible for anyone staying there.

Hopefully I won't get out west until late April, meaning our team goes to Natl's in Wisconsin. If not, then early-mid April. There should be enough spring snow sticking around then, right?

I know someone in Park City, UT that's invited me to stay "anytime", so I was thinking the Canyons. But I'd definately consider a CO trip! :)
