So I've got skis, skins, a car, and the day off, but no one to play with. I was supposed to hook up with my buddy on Wed, but he just bailed on me. He said something about having to work?!? (Wind chill is forecast to be -20 in the mountains tomorrow, maybe it's not such a bad thing after all.) I'd be willing to go anywhere within daytrip drive time of Boston and I'd prefer backcountry, but might be persuaded to buy a ticket... I'm just jonsin' to get out and would rather not solo. With the crazy blizz tonight, and more snow and high winds tomorrow, Thurs could be epic.

Tempting.. It's going to be tough for me to take off. Done powder days 3 of the last 4 weeks. With all the new snow and recent wind loading the BC will be dangerous if you venture into AVA terrain. Any thoughts for a BC destination??

Not sure about a destination. I wanted to leave it open-ended to increase the chances of someone being interested. I agree that avy risk is going to be way high, so I was thinking of checking out some of the trail-based backcountry. I skied up and down Mt Chocorua via the Champney Falls Trail solo back on 2/13. I guess it was fun (the summit was spectacular that day) but it certainly was survival skiing trying to negotiate the snowshoe track while dodging the snowshoers! Last winter I did Moosilauke via Snapper Tr and Carriage Rd and that was pretty fun too. I was thinking maybe the Bruce or Teardrop on Mansfield, Gorge Brook on Moosilauke, Doublehead in Jackson, or with 2 cars maybe the Cannon/Mittersill/Tucker Brook hat trick. I'm game for anything though, secret stashes, people's backyards, whatever.

I've yet to post or reply but will be doing more, so here goes.
As to 3/10, I'm planning to head up to Cannon. Couldn't get anyone to tag along, so going solo. Planning to head right to the Tram. If anyone's around I'd love the company (plus need the 2nd for 2-fer).
I'll be driving a black Isuzu Rodeo. Wearing a red/yellow North Face parka, black Nordica boots and skiing on Volant Machete's.
