Is there a reason why this is in Recent photos and reports? I don't see any photos, and no report. Maybe the Roll Call forum would be better suited for this topic?

Sincerely,

Been thinking about heading up Friday night to ski Tucks Saturday since last Sunday. I have been weather and avi watching since then. Was worried about the wind at the begining of the week. Has dropped down to 25 mph last time I checked. High temps 19 without windchill.

My real concern is the snow conditions in the bowl. As far as I can tell this is not going to be spring skiing. No hero turns. Probably hard crust which will not loosen up. Low temps, wind and not much sun on the bowl.

Anyone have any thoughts on what conditions will be in the bowl Saturday?

Jonesen: Got back from Squaw week and a half ago. Just missed a big dump out there. Last 5 days they have gotten over 6'. We had 8 days of sun and great spring skiing with no new snow. Was really a great trip. Will post pics later this week unless I decide to go up to ski. Returned to Squaw after 16 year hiatus.

Paul, I'd say your options will be limited as there will be some fresh Dry snow today along with chilling temps and high winds later today....think wind loading and weak bonding.

Still, a look-see and a retreat still leaves time for the Cat, which has been spectacular this season.

If it is sunny, the thermal gain should soften it up. With luck Sunday morning should be good too. Remember as soon as the sun comes up it starts baking the bowl. The best conditions are when it is icy on the "flats" up top and as you roll over into the pitch it softens up.

There will be much much more this spring.....Even for Nationals-bound-woulda-been-skier-hockey types. ;)

In the meantime its Knob Creek for the skin up and Speckled :chicken:  for the parking lot. Pix to follow.
