View Full Version : Purity Test v0.5
With "The Season" upon us, I thought I'd bring this back to the fore for the new folks on the board.
I guess I should update this thing to version 1.0 someday ... feedback is welcome, in the past I've implemented almost every suggestion I got that fit with the general "flow" of the test.
And here it is: M@'s Tuckerman Purity Test V0.5 (http://m.sheppard.net/tuckerman/purity)
I just took it and got a 96 (v0.5)
Maybe there should be a crampon question...

I think I need to be admitted to TRA (Tuckerman Ravine Anonymous)... my score exceeded any reasonable person's level of acceptance.
Yes... I do believe a question about carrying gear should have a line for crampons and ice ax.

I answered all that apply...the results:
Score Total (Click to calculate score) = 123
Tux v0.5= (note the version when quoting your score)

Wouldn't it be a hoot that everyone from T4T brought Seth bacon for the rest of ths season? I think he would cry. http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif
Sheesh! I need a life! 203 on ver0.5 http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif Now all need to do is make whoopi, concieve and get married in TUX! Next I need to find a willing participant. http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif I refuse to carry a >100lb pack up there! I came close a few times in my early daze but I got wiser.
Can't say anything about the folks in the 'obscure' section.... Toni is dead and the others, I have no clue.

Wow, that's impressive - since you haven't conceived and don't know the obscure peeps, guess you must've skiied neked.
And I though I was a dork @ 104, and that's with 5 fer the 100#+ pack (tele rig n boots + board n boots + crampons + axe + tent + beer + food + waterpipe = stoopit, loaded kid with smooshed discs).
Who is sax man, anyhow? I don't know him, but I've heard of him and am kind o surprised he and Pwdr8s haven't met.

Ok so you get 50 points for skiing in the bowl naked... but only 5pts for skiing the lip? hmmm... sounds like this purity test favors nudist more than brave young soles!!
But on the other hand... I wonder how many points you'd of got if the test had 'Naked on the Lip'.

AND it was before they started handing out fines for doing it in the buff up there! Not just once either - 4 times total to date.... twice on my birthday (May 28th) and once in June with a former girlfriend (Alison - she skied naked too!).... we had a group of buddies from PSC(now PSU) carry our clothes down and the most recent in early May back in I think it was 1989 or 1990. So long ago... It is a free feeling to be sliding quickly along in the sun! Only problem everytime was getting snow in my boots.
I wrote the test long before I considered skiing it naked. And the whole lip vs. naked thing was debated, and I adjusted things.
If people wanna make suggestions for v0.6 (or maybe even go straigh to 1.0) lemme know and I'll start compiling a list.
The people at the end - yeah Toni Matt is dead, but people who met him are still alive.

I would def add points for Lip service.... that's no easy task to commit yourself over the lip, especially when you cannot see below. Consider it a sort of leap of faith.
Gear carried
Crampons 5pts
Ice Ax 5pts
Lost Gear
Cameras 10pts
Sunglasses 5pts
Beer 5pts
Clothing 8pts
Sunscreen 3pts
Activities
Flips or somersaults 15pts
Tubing ?
Sledding ?
Cooking in the bowl 5pts
Ski Naked 30pts
Ski Naked and get tktd 50pts
Claim last run of season 40pts - Hard to verify unless pics and witnesses.
I have more ideas and will suggest them later.

Found gear???YES!!!!.... not just in TUX either.... somewhere up there.
I found a new Bic lighter in the snow heading up to GOS last time. Def worth 5pts.
I've seen stray bras up there too.
Freebird wins that one...finding a good doo-bee has to worth be a bunch of points

I think you should get points for convincing someone else to carry your gear up :skifemcool:
And also for carrying more than 1/2 of your body weight. Carry a 50lb pack when you weight just over 100lb is much more difficult than when you weigh 175lbs...
And also something about ages... I skied the bowl the first time (from 1/2 way up not over the lip) when I was 12...
P.S. I got a 77... Maybe I should be the one skiing naked next time

Agreed on the age suggestion - I also skied the bowl @12.
As to your suggestion to increase your points, we all know it's just a solicitation to get one of PWRDR8s pervy smilies. ;) . This time, I'll beat him to the punch. http://timefortuckerman.com/photopost/data/774/1659horny.gifhttp://timefortuckerman.com/photopost/data/774/1659woohoo.gif.

Here's one that should be on the list, especially for those diehards. Many of us fair weather maniacs while there are those of us that are questionably sane.
Skiing TUX in the rain. ? pts
I cite this because I find myself more often these days seeking the http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/bluebird.gif days and avoiding http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/raining.gif when in truth the ski conditions have been exceptional. There are big advantages in living just 2hrs away from the rockpile.
