I'm thinking about skiing Tuckerman sometime next year. Can anyone tell me when the best time of year is to ski Tuckerman? Thanks.

Go early season (April) for the most snow and less crowds. Possibilities include skiing over the headwall and upper slopes above the ravine. More effort is required to hike up the Tuckerman Ravine trail in the snow (easier with crampons) but you don't sweat it out in the heat on the way up from Pinkham. At the end of the day you may be able to ski out the bowl via the little headwall and down to Pinkham on the Sherburne. More chance of avalanche dangers at this time (generally).
Choose a later time such as early to mid May for warmer weather, shorts and the party atmosphere at lunch rocks. Best time too if your just going to hike up and watch. Dangers due to crevasses and undermined snow are an issue at this time.
