Hey Skilas, Rider.Steve. I see you guys are planning for this weekend.

Kate and I and a bunch of other Canucks will be up in the ravine either Sat or Sunday... will depend on the weather which day. If we don't see you there, be sure to pop over to Attitash in the evening. We're staying in Lot 16 Blueberry Village this year Skilas... just down the road from last year, but still on the hill winding up by the slopes to the left. Let me know your schedules and maybe we can hook up!

I'm getting some positive feedback from Suzy around my plan to drive up the auto road and ski the snowfields on SUNDAY the 22nd.

Hey M@ didn't notice you up there for Sunday! Driving up to the snowfields huh? Hmmm... that might be a possibility for us if we do tucks Saturday. Keep me up to date on your plans... hopefully we can cross paths finally!

How far up is the auto road open too?

I'm planning on coming up saturday morning, most likely with Skilas and possibly with Ski&Ride; plans will be sorted out over beer this evening. I have no set agenda at this point other than fun and some of that tingle-y feeling that people around here crave.

Will have Walkie Talkie on 9-14 and good beer. I'll PM my cell phone number to you at some point as well when plans have firmed up.

I'm looking to drive up on Sunday to slide the summit snowfields. Might dive down left gulley.... have to wait and see.

See other thread regarding AUTO ROAD.

Ok what a bunch of non committals... us included!

Kate and I have decided to take the TMC :teardrop: down to the ADK's in NY (we have to drop the trailer off there anyways this spring), and will be camping overnight Thurs, then heading eastwards to NH on Friday morning to meet up with all the laterbees from Ottawa at Attitash. Hopefully we can cross paths with some of you. We're at Lot 16 Blueberry Village (@ Attitash) regardless Fri/Sat/Sun night if any of you can make it over for some 'apres skiing', but willing to meet elsewhere if we can be in contact.

I'll be tuned to 9-14 and have cell phone on duh hip. Will post cell # in the TMC.

Sunday is up in the air right now... auto road/snowfields is a possiblity though.

Are the snowfields accessible from the current high point?

I don't think its worth it from the current high point, and no parking.

Hi all....
Well, it 's looking good for this weekend, and judging by all this chatter, I'll get to meet a few more of y'all that I haven't yet met. And that means you, Dave! I'll be coming LOADED FOR BEAR with Tux archives and you can go nutz! (We need an archives icon!) I'll prolly make the trip w/PWDR8S and maybe one or two other guys.
Joel, give me a call and we'll get it firmed up.

We we're about to take off in about 15 minutes. Hope we run into a few of you this weekend. Not sure which day were in the ravine... best weather day probably but its a group decision. My contact info for our condo at Attitash is in the TMC plus cell phone. We'll be sure to be tuned to 9-14 also. I should be able to net connect from the condo also, so will look for messages on T4T. Might even be able to post some fresh photos Sat/Sun night.

Anyone hiking up to the ravine Sunday? I can't go Sat but will either hike up Hillman's to the summit or go up the summer Lion's Head trail. Most likely Hillman's so I can check for hazards before skiing down. Maybe I'll see the "auto road to the upper snowfield" crew if no one is coming up from the ravine side.

Planning on heading up Saturday. Hoping the precip holds off as long as possible. 2 of us plan to be on the trail from Pinkham by 7/7:30. Possibly try to head to NE snowfields, but more likely do laps on LG and/or Hillmans. Won't have radios, but will be driving a black Isuzu rodeo if you see me in the parking lot. On the trail, I'll have a blue Osprey pack with Volant skis.

Any idea if Hillmans is skiable from the top? - I'm wondering if you hike over from Left Gully if you'd have to do some downclimbing.

Yup weather forecasts have been improving... might even get a tan this year!I've had a tan since since the end of March :D

Still hoping... still on the fence... it would really be mind bogglingly irresponsible of me to go up, but that won't stop me.

Weather... man, I wish we could turn the weather forcast back to what it was on wednesday. Looking like rain all weekend and most of next week too.

Right now saturday is looking better than sunday... but neither is looking stellar.

Every time I posted in the roll call calendar this month, the weather report changed to rain. I'll be up there regardless this time, even if I don't get turns in.

It sounds sketchy for the auto road-to-summit this weekend. I'll drive by and ask on Sat.

I'm babying my tweaked knee, so I'm not doing the hike down from the ravine -so that's out. I'll try & find something though. If there are any patches worth poaching at Wildcat (?), I'd do that rain or shine.

You poacher, YOU!! Heh heh heh.....

As for the wet weather! http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/cry.gif Looks like a possibly wet Sunday, but I'm still leaning towards going up at least to hike around or maybe a river run on the Saco. I'm hoping the road is open... my bud here has got a bum foot and couldn't do the Ravine Trail for any distance. My foot is still misbehaving.

Time will tell.

Mountainboarding allowed down the Tuckerman Trail? Could be an interesting ride! :snowboarding:

Well, so much for our good friend Mr. Otto D. Rhoade this wknd.
Plus I'd almost think I was imagining it, but the avy bulletin confirms it: since I returned from the Sierra, FIVE straight wknds w/ at least some rain. (Should I return there to break the curse?) Now despite skiing every wet wknd, some good timing and geographical decisions have required pulling out the full gtx only 1x, but still, this wx is absurd!
Anyway, Sat looks like the "best" day to ski. I might drive up tonight to get an early start. PM me if interested in carpool from Cambridge/Somerville or thereabouts.

Hey Ski&Ride.... I think I see a pattern here..... Let's change something.... yeah... take your post off the Roll Call, maybe just maybe that might do the trick and it won't rain? http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif

I'm trying the hopping on my left leg instead of my right hoping that it will change the weatha.

It all comes down to water one way or another.

See my 5/14 TR -- was fine last wknd.
Will definitely be worse this coming wknd, though my guess is should still be ok.
BUT: getting from LG to HH in clear vis w/ GPS backup (and preprogrammed waypt) + prior experience = easy. Vis suddenly disappears, no GPS, no prior experience = potentially life-threatening situation.

Totally agree. We will have GPS, and I have done the traverse before (in clear conditions however). Will take what the weather gods allow tomorrow, and will consult with the excellent caretakers at HoJos.

Well we made it to Attitash. Had an AWESOME night camping in the ADK with prime waterfront and view of the mtns.

10 hours later were at Attitash. Mt Washington looked great. Took 2 hours for the front desk/Verison to figure out how I could make a long distance call to get my email...

We were surprised to find the condo has a room with hot tub and bar... not bad!

Anyways everyone is getting in late.. so still don't know if Tucks is Sat or Sun. Weather doesn't point to one day better than another, so could well be Sunday.

Regardless were around for apre-skis at Lot 16 Blueberry Village. Well post whatever.. if I get a chance.

Drats!! Foiled again!
Looking at the weather from Mt. Washington now, Sunday morning, it looks like not going up for today was a good idea. I just finished reading Not Without Peril a few days ago. This freak summer snow storm is the exact type of conditions that show up in all the stories in that book.

I will remain Tuckerman-less until mid-June now. ... Tihs iz teh sux0r!

Sadly this is yet another day I cannot enjoy the greatness of Tuckerman and Mt Washington. http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif Hence my day is filled with moving furniture for a summer tenant. Yuk. But hey..... I'm making $'s!
