View Full Version : Auto Road - Not open yet
The auto road is only open to treeline right now. Unless I'm wrong, that doesn't provide access to the snowfields.
I called them today and they said they might open this weekend, but they wouldn't no until Friday.
It sounds like the visitor center up top WOULD be open when the auto road is open... (I am bringing the whole fam for snow field skiing, and they won't want to do the skiing part as long as I will)

You are correct. The key is there is no parking at treeline. You could be dropped off, but I'm not sure what that would buy you.
Keep an eye out for the pocket rockets....

Just got off the phone with the Auto road peeps she said:
1) Are you looking to ski? The phone is ringing off the hook with you ppl she seemed like she wanted to go home.
2) It has snowed for the past two days above tree line and they will make the call on a daily basis now Saturday is not looking good but maybe Sunday.
Couldn’t have snowed that much but, I guess a little would close it.

Snow accum is not the problem, but rather any cold and/or wet wx gets in the way of their continuing efforts to remove ice, clear the culverts, and repair the unpaved sections.
Interestingly (well, at least to me), snow removal is kind of their easiest task, in contrast to what I've witnessed out west:
