I'm taking a stab at this being the correct scatagory for this........
Hey guys and gals...... seeing how we never got around to playing/practising (except Rider.Steve) with our avi transceivers at the T4T MidSummer Bash  , I'm throwing this out on the table.
Whaddaya say to another gathering to practice? I know the novelty of Doublebag keg brew flowing, a fine assortment of other beverages and cool cool water of the lake distracted a good many of you. :p So I'm suggesting an event with a little more focus this time around. We don't have to do it soon, but before the snow flies would be good.... perhaps, even after it has started again.
Any takers? Any location? We can use Darkwater if it is where y'all want it.

No bee? If you's referrin' to no bee~ah, then THAT my friend is downright ridiculous!
Strap a T to a Growler of sumpen good and I gorontee it will be seconds to find it...
simple rules: winner is obviously good enough and has earned a time out with their prize
Next find a 750ml of good Ale...same result...
etcettera until the last thing is a can of warm bud light...
I'll prolly find that and die of thirst!

I'll prolly find that and die of thirst! That's exactly how I envision the practicing to play out...... The only hitch (perhaps not) is that one beacon needs to be placed with the 'victim' (treasure/prize/delight) for each search. It'll work as a 'round robin' type game.... the first is placed with a volunteer's beacon, then the 1st searcher to find it places the next 'victim' with their beacon and then sits out that round until it is found. The next winner does the same until all 'victims' are found. That way the winners get to enjoy their 'victim' while the slower searchers keep on looking.

After 'beacon games;
Tricycle races will commence...
-Five members will be needed to compete.
-There will be five laps and each member will complete one lap.
-Before the member starts each lap, he/she will have to chug a 12oz. beer from a cup.
-You will not be able to run or walk with the tricycle; you must ride it. ;)

Cool - particularly the tricycle race.
My "old" Barryvox is being joined by a second identical model in a few days. I understand that Mr. Schefftz has various toys as well and could be interested in some practice play.
Summer is near done - perhaps the search for suds could be done under cover of the falling leaves. The search for bud-lite should take place in the out-house where it is made.

I've got two Ortovox M2s and a Tracker DTS and would be up for some practice. Family obligations and the fact that I've already taken a lot of personal time this summer mean that it would have to be local (near Boston), maybe on a weekday evening. Anyone want to propose a time/place? Could we haul some hay down to the basement of Redbones to probe around in?

Perhaps it's that I'm still stuck at work, but this can be taken out of context -- and strikes me as rather humorous in that immature, funny sort of way. Just picture RiderSteve and Mr. Shefftz engaged in "practice play" with their "toys".
Too far, I know.
I've got a pair of Trackers, and would be glad to join in the depravity.

Touche! Clearly the summer heat has finally gotten to my fragile faculties....I find myself dreaming about prudent ventures in avalanche terrain. Alas, my readings only scratch the surface; coursework must be done.
I would be delighted to meet Mr. Bagr in a mock search and save mission.

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to RR again".
I'm interested, but it might be tough for me to join one of these sessions at the moment, since Margaret wants all the time off she can get from the newborn and 2-year old. Got only one beacon and haven't practiced using one in two years, so I certainly need to get back up to speed. Sunapee and Boston are both about an hour and a half for me, so location makes no difference in that regard.
Sounds like fun - timing and location will be key for me, so I'll hold off on issuing a percentage likelihood until that's filled in...
from the number of people that seem interested and given a, say, 40-50m range on the beacons, the hunt may look a bit more like a fumble recovery! i know better than to stand in the way of some of you and good beverages.

I finished the 04-05 ski season only this past weekend, and already I have to start practicing for the 05-06 season?
Anyway, we have his & hers Trackers plus an M1, and I'm always up for some practice.
Middlesex Fells has some good terrain, with plenty of leaves for cover. We might also be able to do a cookout at my place afterwards (between Porter & Davis Sq).

Fells are nice *and* convenient for moi. Mr. Shefftz's cookout suggestion is also nice, and I could offer same in Arlington Heights, which is not far from the eastern Winchester border. Isn't Astrotech also in the neighborhood?
Date? Labor Day weekend? September 17/18?
Uh, my apologies, is this a hi-jack?

I am definitely interested. However, I won't be available for the next few weekends. Labor Day is moe.down, so definitely out then, and I plan on completing my move the following weekend.... So in reality, the 17th looks like my best bet, if y'all can hold out that long...

The Middlesex Fells (http://www.fells.org/fells.html) are just north of Boston on either side of I-93 in Medford, Stoneham, Melrose and Winchester. I believe "Fells" means "barren hill".
I'm working on the 17th :(

I know what you mean, most of my Fall is filled almost to K-mart's opening day.
I am commited to the night of the 24th, but count me in! Maybe I'll bring the F1 for some "Old School" technique practice.
