Looks like a bluebird day likely tom'w. Who knows how much longer the Sherby will hold out? I must go!!! Anyone else????

i am debating. i am concerned about a freeze tonight and whether or not the temps will be high enough tomorrow to corn things up. was also considering GoS, but that would entail more hoofing on both ends and less skinning on the way up.

Try right gully. Even if it isn't that warm it will see a ton of sun.

Also about skinning. IMO it won't even be worth it. I would say that you would have to start skiing at about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way up the trail to hojo's. Then you would have to take them off again at hojo's. So I would say it isn't even worth the time and wasted effort.

it is always worth skinning. yea, i know RG generally has the softer snow in the ravine. but softer is still relative to how hard it could get. would rather opt for hillmans any way to maximize downhill verts without switching gear. there's the hitch since hillmans might not be at its best. ah well, i will make the call in the AM.

decided to hit cannon today instead of washington, looks like i made the right call. cannon was so bad they were offering free tickets, and it still really wasn't worth it. called it quits after three runs, they didn't even open the top of the mountain because it was a sheet of ice. avi report for tucks seems to indicate the bowl also completely froze up and is essentially not skiable for mortal men. maybe next week!

It wasn't pretty up there. Well it was nice out, but the bullet proof was deadly. There were about 8 people who slid down Hillmans in about 30 min. Because of the conditions patrol only had one person over there on climbing gear who was just reporting in. Someone's probably going to go down on a litter today if they even make it. We decided to just ski the Sherby down which was also in interesting shape. I'll have pictures up in a few.

At this point we found out that the bowl was still bullet proof and 3 people had already slid down right gully.


Wow Riverc0il you should defiantly listen to my advice more often. :p :doh: :D

Ditto on the report posted by Fenris...

Having learned my lesson the previous week on Left Gully, there was no way I was heading into the Ravine again to ski once the patrol told me that everything froze up on Sat night.

I went down the Sherby on my skis, but I wouldn't call what I did skiing! It was in pretty rough shape... Hopefully today's snow will help.
