Saxable - definition - The right conditions for a saxaphone to be playable in Tuckermans Ravine i.e. 45 degrees or greater, wind 10mph or less. I am planning to hike in every weekend that is "saxable", so it's up to mother nature. Ski Dave, thanks for the pics, looks like the bowl is going to be skiable longer than the past several years. What a TON of snow!!! The longer the bowl is skiable, the more saxable it becomes, savvy? Hope mother nature is kind on the weekends, and I am looking forward to the Tuckermans experience 2001. Much safety to all - Saxman.

I sure hope you're up there on Sunday. I saw/heard you last May and would be delighted to see you there again.

B.N. After 10 years of doing this, i just don't think the weather is going to be quite there this week-end. I don't mean to be a whimp, but I have to be quite picky to do what I do. Ever try to play a sax while the brass is sticking to your fingers? ouch!
skidave - Out of the last 19 times 17 have been Saturdays. If we are there on the same day cmon up and say hi. -I really like what YOU do with the site. I especially like your patience and tolerance shown the new people. Heck, the first 2 years I went in there I didn't even consider you could get injured from falling ice. Then - I saw a girl get killed on a big dump about 6 -7 years ago..... Anyway, keep up the good work. I read it all.
M@ - see you on May 5th weather permitting. I may even stay over. I am packing in something special for you, so let me know if you are not going to be there. Every ounce counts.
Fly out of LWM.
To everyone - It's great bumping into folks and just experiencing the experience. Your encouragement, enthusiasm and love for the back country keep me coming back. /Saxman

Cinco de Tuckermans, I love it. I am going in next Sat 4-21, IF it's not windy, and it's nice.
skidave, how was the wind 4-14? I think I made the right call judging from what it was doing in the vallys. When are you going in next? /Saxman

Hi Sax,
Guess that wasn't you up there on Saturday playing the odd short tune huh?
Wind was heavy Apr 14 (my son was crawling into the bowl).
Apr 21 I was wishing for a bit of a breeze on the way up cuz it was HOT on the trail. Bit of wind in the bowl helped keep the 'Son of Inferno' flags waving about.

skidave, What's the "odd short tune",? I made a mistake on saying the 14th, I meant last weekend the 21st. It was pretty windy at sea level which usually translates into unsaxable in the bowl. /saxman

I just read my previous post and I was a week off. I am planning to go in the 28th and I wanted to know how windy it was the 21st. Sorry. /S.M.

Hi Saxman,
Yes well I just recall hearing a bit of what I thought was sax like music. I was pretty distracted with all the noise up on the headwall (I was up mid headwall) ... all the sluffs oozing past me, bodies sliding by etc.... shouts of TRACK!!!! (wipeouts in progress) and COURSE!!! (Inferno organizers)... and a very rowdy lunch rock crowd. If that was you there Saturday then I imagine I have heard you before on other trips. Do you do a trumpet too? I probably have some sound bits of you playing... will listen for you on the video I took Saturday. If so will add a clip to TFT somewhere.

Mattmeister, Something came up and I'm not going to be able to make it. Sorry, dude. I'm shooting for the 12th. /S.M.
Hey! You gotta come! I told everyone you'd be there, and the drums and piano really are NOT going to sound right without the sax-a-ma-phone.
Bummed I won't be hearing you this year man.

Hey SaxMan..
I'm bringing my brother up next weekend. He's a tucks first timer. Hoping to show him the total tucks experience, including a sax echoing in the background. Are you going to be tooting your horn next Fri, Sat, Sun (11,12,13)?? I sure hope it's gonna be saxable...

If it's saxable, I'll be there. It's been a tough year for me gettin in there. The one day it was saxable, I didn't think it was going to be and I bagged out. I'm shooting for the 12th and memorial day week-end. /S.M.
