Myself and 2 friends hiked the Lion Head winter route (the road less traveled), and skied Raymond Cataract. Hiking this route with skis on our packs brought a few curious looks from climbers on their way down. The wind was intense. We would not have been able to accomplish this route without crampons. The snow was a bit crusty. The experience was incredible even though we had to hike out through the trees to get back to the Lion Head trail. We then hiked another 30 minutes to get to the Sherbourne Trail which we skied all the way back to Pinkham Notch. I'm still popping ibuprofen as I recover from Saturday's adventure.
