I highly recommend trying some on first so you know what kind fits your feet and what size you should get. The two main brands are Garmont, which tends to fit a higher volume or wider foot, and Scarpa, which tends to fit a narrower foot.

You can find pretty good deals sometimes at Sierra Trading Post online, REI online, and First Tracks in Burlington, VT (they have an online store as well). Ragged Mountain and IME in N. Conway, if you are ever in that area, both run consignment shops and often have less expensive boots on sale.

You can also check out "tele-turn around" on TelemarkTips.com. Folks sell a lot of gear on that forum, and there is a lot of great info on all things tele.

Good luck! And HAVE FUN! :D
