I'm still thinking April 7th will be "The Day", anyone else have any info? Is the ammount of snow this year more or less than usual? Jan is turning out a little warmer than usual in So.NH so I'm thinking early is better. I wanna ski Sherbert ALL THE WAY DOWN.

I not sure what the snow is like this year, but I was up in the bowl the whole first week of april last year. It was mash potatoes for 2 1/2 days then froze up hard like glacier ice. But i skiied left gully in poor visibility on almost shear ice. It was a great week any way bad weather and all. Go for it hardly any people up there at that time.

i was wondering if there are alot of people up there in like march around spring break? because that when i was planning on visiting
March is typically the busiest month, probably becuase the awsome weather, and spring break combined.
I'm trying to time my visit with the melting of the snow, so I can ski most of the way from Hermit to Pinkham though. Hard to plan that this far ahead though.
The first weekend in March has been AWSOME the past 2 years, from my personal expierence.

thanks man
i thought it might get crowded but oh well. can you ski to the bottom in march?
Skiing to the bottom depends on the thaw. The past 2 years, in early March, you could only ski 1/2 to 1/3 of the way down... then it was hoofing it.

maybe i was on a different mountain but I was up there the last weekend in March last year. The ravine was soft and wet top to bottom. Some crowds (all the platforms and closed huts were full) with moderate lunch rocks crowd. little line up the right but clear climbing on the left. with a few bare spots we rode almost all the way down sherburne. trying to time the thaw again this year to make the trek from NYC
Replace MARCH with MAY in my above comments. (And replace M@ with IDIOT)
The first weekend in MAY has been awsome the last 2 years, and on that weekend the sherburn has been open 1/2 to 1/3 of the way down.
Sheesh... colour me calander challanged.

I'm not sure what kind of crystal ball you own but please let me know where you got it.
April 7th was quite a day indeed. More snow than i've seen up there in two decades. No wind. Bluebird. Warm. Relatively uncrowded.
The GOS has never had so much snow!
It's gonna be a crowded year so get there soon.
