I've noticed that some accounts have a picture attached to their profiles. how do I get ahold of one of these for me? I searched around in archives and stuff and couldn't find anything on it.

Go to "User CP" and then to "Edit Profile Picture"

Unless you are talking about the headshots on the front page for all logged in users. Send a good photo to admin and he'll create one for you.
