Got a pair of cheap tele skis, and am looking to mount my bindings to them. They're marked with the boot center and ski center. What happens to the ski if I mount the bindings with the boot in front of or behind the boot center? How does it affect the ski?
Also, I'm putting my AT bindings on tele skis. Should I move the boot center because I'm using AT bindings instead of tele?

If the skis are marked for both boot center and cord center I would guess they are intended for both alpine/tele use.
Alpine skis are typically mounted boot center.
Tele skis are typically mounted with boot pins at cord center (ski center).
Forward or behind this changes the behavior of the ski . I have read that further back makes a ski skid more, forward is better for women and helps initiate turns, touring set ups are more centered for better ascending..... blah blah.
I don't think any of that really answered your question. You'd think there would be more information out there... sort of nerve racking standing there with the drill ready isn't it? I guess if you got them cheep it's your chance to try something different, you can always move them.

Bucksaw is correct on all counts.
Telemarktips has several threads regarding the binding mounting topic:

Lots of talk about something so simple.
