View Full Version : Dolly Copp Campground
Anyone have any information on how to verify the opening date of Dolly Copp campground?

Says they don't open until 5/25/2001. I've heard lots of people staying after a tuckerman ski trip though. I've tried the 800-280-2267 phone number and they basically gave me the above information.
I'm looking for a contact to verify if it will be possible to get a walk-in site on 4/27/2001.
Any/All info would be great.

I camped there last year, 4/23/2001. It was not open officially but there was no gate. The road in was not plowed, but many cars were there before us to pack the snow. Once we got into the campground it was loaded with people who arrived before us. We could not get a site so we pulled off to the side and slept in the cars.

M@, Barnes Field (stay straight on Pinkham "B" road) is for groups (it's Dolly Copp's group area), but in off season is open to anyone as far as I know. You could certainly get a walk in site there.- Have a great time, I am Soooo envious. Well, at least there is next year for me! - SherpaKroto

I've been staying at Dolly Copp campground/Barnes Field area the last full weekend in April, for the last 5 years! I guess that answers your question then?
I'm part of a group, mostly ski/snowboard instructors from over at Smugglers' Notch - VT who all meet that weekend every year over at Dolly Copp/Barnes field. Maybe I'll bump into you that w/k, won't be hard to find; we usually have 15-25 in our party.
Only thing I would suggest is to get there early, because soem years it fills up pretty fast and it's not a big camping area. It fills up especially fast in the late afternoon hours after everybody gets off from work.
