Had some new liners for my Trace's heated up, only 12 hours later and I realize the "folds" to the liners are switched left/ right.(I blame the pbr)

They're t-race 3 buckle, three years old. Is the Shiny silver side supposed to be the inner layer, or is it the black layer, closest to my shin?

Oh and one more question, my nf pants say "hy-vent"?? Will they work in the ravine?

I'm not sure about scarpa spicifically but the inner tounge should be against your shin I think.

I owned a pair of Nf hy-vents they are NF's answer to Gor-Tex. I've had mine in all sorts of nasty conditions And they work great. Remember they are a non insulating hard shell layer so you need a wicking thin layer on your skin and depending how cold it is you might need a warmer non Cotton fleece layer too

Liners:
The all black tab is closest to skin and starts its wrap from the inner side of your shin to the outer (from medial to lateral)

You can observe that in this video about fitting Scarpa Intuition liners: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLzUQQGBJus

HyVent is a somewhat breathable coating sprayed onto the inner side of fabric used for making The North Face's bargain level waterproof shells and shell pants. It is a special foaming style of PU. It is sprayed on, allowed to foam and as it sets a respray is done. After that sets a third spray finishes the job...forming a labrinth between the layers which allows vapor out, and blocks liquids.

A wicking layer and an insulating layer go under such shell pants*. In spring a nice pair of capilene or merino wool tights under the shell pants will be all you need. If the outer fabric is tough the pants are for climbing or skiing/boarding. If the fabric is light they are probably good for hiking, snow shoeing and certain backcountry snowsports.

*TNF makes insulated skipants with HyVent. If you have those the wicking layer is still important.
