I was at Tux this past Friday (4/18/08) and on my way up the Chute, a lady asked me to take some pictures of the three naked guys skiing. I guess they had asked her but her friend with the camera had left. I have a bunch of them (had the camera on high speed). When the guy with the helmet (on the head above his shoulders) made it down, I told him I would poste the pics at this site.

Not wanting to affend anyone, I uploaded them to kodak gallery and will send the link to anyone that asks for it. You can PM if you like. The pics are probably PG-13 at worst.

Once the Vaicodin wears off a little, I'll tell you all about my first time at Tux and what it feels like to tear your ACL and then have to walk to HoJo's.

Thank you Faceplant and Skiline! You follow a long and honorable tradition! Even one of our moderators was :ng2006:. Beware though, he got ticketed for it (for real).

Thanks to L&AirC for making the photos available (please make available to me!:D)

The ranger was waiting for us at the bottom (how could he miss it, we climbed up in the nude). His first words to us were "put on some shorts, we need to talk". He explained the possible penalties for our actions which couldíve been a fine or mandatory court date (I didn't know they were optional). He was kind and let us off with a warning and told us not to do it again. I'm sure the out come would have been different if we tried this on Saturday.

Thanks parkexblur for posting the video Iím the second guy. (5:30 into the clip)

It was an amazing day. I think that parkexblur had a little too much scotch. He's "The Master At Work" in the video. I want to go back with him next year so I pretended that he was a big ski star and he wanted to show the DVD to his mother.

I feel bad for those that looked up while climbing in the boot ladder with you....on arrival (at the hut) we discovered someone put a disturbing poster on the outhouse wall, we finally learned to ignore it......but we had a week to do so

Trying to ignore something dangling over the boot ladder for an hour.... New boot ladder, NOW and @ warp speed!

I felt bad for the people that were skiing over the head wall just when we were getting there and didn't know there were three naked dudes hiking up. It was quite the surprise for them. Some were smiling and others were almost angry... whatever. I loved every minute and would love to do it again.

Does anyone else have any pictures!?!

Glad I didn't see guys http://www.techsourceconsultants.com/coppermine/albums/userpics/10020/butt.gif this year although the poor folks on the Caribou Conspiracy tour saw a full moon. Sorry guys! :p

I'm all for nudity and wish more ladies were of the European lassť faire mindset and let fun be fun. Having peep get angry at bold defiance of this puritanical bass-ackward american 'morality' makes me laugh too hard. http://www.techsourceconsultants.com/coppermine/albums/userpics/10020/lauging_smiley.gif

Way to go!... for those that go au natural! http://www.techsourceconsultants.com/coppermine/albums/userpics/10020/applause.gif http://www.techsourceconsultants.com/coppermine/albums/userpics/10020/cheers.gifhttp://www.techsourceconsultants.com/coppermine/albums/userpics/10020/butt.gif

That's a classic shot! Nice one... thanks for posting it! Worthy of skicdave creating an icon! Yes, and fortunately for us all thats as close up as (and as close as I wanted) my lens to zoom at that particular point in time. ;)

Don't worry for thoose behind us on the boot ladder becasue we broke trail straight up the head wall.

All us lunch rockers that day (in particular a UNH group above me) were laughing about how we were glad we weren't the second, and especially not last in your line of naked guys, catching some "blowback." :ng2006: I'm just glad I was able to finish my lunch before the rocks were buzzed past by 2 out of the 3 of you. :)

A few folks let me know that the photos from the Koidak gallery don't download very nicely so I added them to photobucket. Below is the link. If it doesn't work let me know and I'll try something else.

Saturday AM tig and I stopped for breakfast to-go at the Tilton Diner (a great place) I grabbed a copy of the Weirs Times because of the Left Gully photo on the cover.

Amy Patenaude wrote the companion piece about hiking up to the Ravine on Inferno Day and mentioned you guys.

The piece is entitled "Best Day Ever - Tuckerman Ravine" in the May 1st edition. I wonder if Ms Patenaude is related to Justin Patenaude of Warren Miller's "Fifty"? Anyway, here is the front cover:
http://www.theweirstimes.com/images/currentedition/frontpage.jpg
And, here is a link to the entire issue as a pdf (Warning, it's 31.77MB and they serve it up slowly):
http://www.theweirstimes.com/archivepdfs/wtimes050108.pdf

here is the piece...I have removed only the column formats:

The decision to let Rachel play hooky on the Friday before April vacation wasn’t made lightly. She works hard to keep up with her work and she loves her school. Since the forecast was calling for a beautiful day we decided we should all play hooky on Friday.

We weren’t surprised that the parking lot was full and that we had to park off the edge of the pavement of Route 16. Lots of people were trying to beat the weekend crowd. Plus on Saturday the annual Inferno Race, sponsored by the Friends of Tuckerman Ravine, would draw a few extra thousand people! Certainly the cars would overflow to Wildcat.

After a few awkward moments of organizing our skis and backpacks we were ready. The trail to the Ravine begins right behind the AMC’s Pinkham Notch Visitor Center. Some young men were weighing their heavy packs on the spring-scale mounted near the trailhead. I think I heard one say 52 pounds (yikes, that will make the 3 miles feel long).

Charlie, Rachel and I carried our skis & boots, a few extra clothes and our lunches. Last ear Charlie carried Rachel’s skis but this year she was strong enough to do it herself. After our short break at Crystal cascades we marched steadily up the trail, the arm weather made us eel good. We marched all he way to Hojo’s and only topped a moment to talk to a volunteer ski patrolman about the conditions in the bowl.

We met some North Conway high school students who admitted they were playing hooky too. They were headed over to Hillman’s Highway. We were tempted to join them because it looked so great but we were determined to make it to the bowl.

The sun reflecting off the snow was very hot and the smell of sunscreen was in the air. As we sat at the bottom of Left Gully all eyes were on three young men working their way to the top of the ravine via the middle of the bowl—the most exposed and the steepest climb up the wall. But what made their actions even more unusual was the fact they were wearing no clothing. Somehow these yahoos made it without falling and they skied down quickly making few turns. The cheers they received from the hundreds of spectators were the wildest of the day.

The race course for the Inferno had just been set on Left Gully. The red and blue gates looked super and we were glad to be able to ski there before the racers skied it out. Rachel made it nearly half way up before deciding she had gone far enough. We watched her ski down before we continued up.

We were able to ski all the way down from the bowl, avoiding the open water at the Little Headwall and connecting with the John Shurburne Ski Trail. The Shurburne was in excellent condition, no bare spots and the bumps were nice and easy.

We happily skied all the way and Rachel declared it the Best Day Ever! Have Fun.
