Practice Hill Climb?
Any bikers on this board doing the practice hillclimb on the auto road this Sunday AM? Are there any trails that would be suitable for biking down (MTB)? It kind of sucks to ride all the way up and have to drive down, but I don't think I'd survive a ride down the headwall.

Mountain bike the headwall... let me know when and I'll get the video.
(Not that I condone such a thing...)
"High, I'm Johnny Noxville, and this is headwall mountain biking."

If your serious about descending any MULTI USE trail, I would hope you would wear full DH armor and a fullface helmet. That said, I would not recommend it. Also, bombing down a multi use trail is a sure fire way to get bikers permanently banned from any area. I have to poach the good single track around my house because of a long standing ban of mtb bikes on trails.

Would that be either the Watchung or South Mtn Reservation?
I miss those places... If I could ride to them - I'd probably poach them too...

You are correct DMC, I live right between them. There is a large group of people who poach them at night. Nightrider headlamps are incredible. Has anyone every tried skiing/riding at night (non resort runs)?

I was actually wondering about something like the Jewell trail or the Crawford or Edmands path. Something outside of the wilderness areas. Not sure if biking is allowed in any of these areas, and also whether I would wind up pushing most of the way. I don't think I'd have any problem riding down the Tuckerman trail below HJ or Gulf of Slides trails, but can't ride there because they're in wilderness zones. I don't intend to run down any hikers or small kids.

These are pretty rugged routes. A LOT of people would be unhappy to see you biking down these. Easiest would be down the cog , but watch out for Jabobs ladder!! Just kidding.. this is NOT an option.
