I have an older pair of Fritschi Diamir Titanal II's which I love, and have had no issues with till the other day skinning up a rather difficult route I cracked the left vertical side of my hinge plate at the bolt hole in the front and where the flat side of the plate meets the vertical to form the 90degree.
I tested the metal and it hoping it was ferrous so I could weld it back together and grind it to a finished quality repair.
Well it wasn't very ferrous but I figured its either try it or throw it away.
I sucessfully welded the two pieces together and ground it down, masked the plastics and mechanics and primed it and applied a finish coat on top.
I wasn't sure how well the MIG welding fused the material, and I had my doubts.
Mounting them today I torqued the screws in properly and noticed a small crack in the front under the screw head.
So I'm done trying to fix this place and am now wondering if I could get the actual metal hinge plate so I could replace it.
You can see in the picture the hinge plate I am referring to is attached with the green rivet/screw and continues down vertically at where you mount it to the ski
I've seen online some talking about the dealer replacing it but I cant find any dealer who would sell such an item.
Anyone have any suggestions.
I don't want to retire these guys yet.
(I'm glad I have a pair of 1 season old freerides thanks to Catinjanuary, although I'm repairing an edge off of the Havocs which cracked the first ride...bummer)
