Post weather 4/22

1st timer question: we'll be skiing and camping this weekend, Fri & Sat weather as of today for Gorham says hi 51 / low 34 with 40% chance rain. Anyone have a rule of thumb as to how this might compare with the weather at or about Hojos and up? Been there in the summer, but not the spring, trying to get an idea. I know it's tough as it changes there so unpredictably, but just wondering if anyone had thoughts. See you all there, 3 of us hiking in Friday @ sundown and tenting it! Thanks. Paul

Just guessing - but I doubt the temp in the bowl will get much over freezing if Gorham tops out at 51. Given the weather over the next few days, I would guess that there is a good chance the snow in the bowl could be pretty hard (unless we get some new snow on top)

Just a note - tenting isn't allowed anywhere in or near the ravine. Don't know if that is what you meant by 'tenting it'. You'll have to get a spot at one of the shelters at Hermit Lake.

Tenting is allowed at hermit lake. I think there are 3 "platforms", but this time of year you end up camping on snow. I camped in a tent one year, and a lean-to the next. I had a blast tenting at tux.

NOTE: The tent spots fall under the same reservation restrictions as the lean-to spots.

Here is a good link for Tuckerman Ravine Weather from Intellicast. It's close, but not cast in stone. Cut and paste the whole link- SherpaKroto
