Question sorry but i am a first timer @ tucks

a friend of mine and i are planning to head up to tucks sometime between may 14-16. my first question is : will there still be skiable snow in tucks that late?

He's got a camper for the bed of his pickup and we plan to sleep in that. My My second question is: Will Pinkham Notch let us sleep in his truck in their lot?
if no then is there a close place that will let us do that?

im sure ill thin of more question as we plan this.
Thanks a head of time for dealing with a first timer to tucks

Yes, you'll have to hike at least half way each way, but be prepared to hike between Pinkham Notch and the Ravine.

Folks do that, but they keep a low profile (Don't ask, don't tell). Staying at the Hermit Lake Shelters is ten bucks a head, you will need a way to cook w/o building a fire

We all were first timers once. Welcome a-board. It's ok to make a mistake, but try not to repeat it. It's safer to learn from someone else's mistake, but the leason is usually better learned from your own.

You can also camp a few miles north of Pinkham at the Dolly Copp Campground. That's probably a better choice then the Pinkham lot, but people do it.

There will be snow to ski on in the Ravine. Below the ravine will be mostly mud, so don't plan on skiing back to your car.

i've car camped at pinkham and do it somewhat regularly at ski resorts and trail heads, all you have to do is show up after dark and people will generally leave you along. dont make a scene, dont have a lot of lights on, and get started kind of early and you'll be fine. also park as far from the buildings as possible. my first time there i camped in the car and it worked out fine.
Enjoy!

Welcome aboard! You've come to the right place for any and all questions related to TUX. Whether we answer them or not.... that's another question altogether.

Lot camping? be discreet, low profile and get up and out early. Take advantage of the cafeteria while you're there at Pinkham... food isn't bad.

As for enough snow for skiing? THAT's a debatable question.... how much snow do YOU need? I know I don't need much... just look at this thread...
Late TR - TUX 4th of July 2006! Finally...the pics!

Just keep checking T4T for recent trip postings with pics and beta.
