Post killington 10-19-03

I made it up to killington today, and after a long hike up the gondola lift line (which wasn't running), i was rewarded with some snow.
here are some pics i took

my first snowman of the season!

Glad to see that you found some snow you too !!

Considering the forecasts & all, I begin to think that they won't open in october this year

It seems like all the ski areas rush actually to open. Timberline is closed for nearly a month, Loveland is not able to make snow... A-basin neither. Tenney has not been able to offer the 3000' long ski slope, etc. I think that Lake Louise is snowgunning, at least.

Hey, the snow, let's go !!!!!!

Nice ! Should have tried to sneak him off the mountain... might have got a for stealing valuable snow though.

Are there any hiking trails up Killington or is your only choice to hike up a ski slope?

Thanks for the report BerkshiresB!

I was in the Catskills today - There was about 1/2 to 1 inch of snow at 3200 feet....

Talked to some KMart locals today - they are thinking next weekend opening... we'll see...

there are hiking trails, but they are very poorly marked (at the base). the one we wanted follows the maintence road, which goes along great northern. not knowing this, we hiked up the mountain via a double black diamond trail, and not until we were at the summit did we discover the actual hiking trails.

Worked 6.5 shifts this week and my only rewards were overtime wins for the Bruins and the Pats.

Nice snowperson!

eeesshhh

The KOD is now officially planned on late-october - early november.

See Killington snow report for details

It begins to look like there is no ski areas in North America that will open in october this year as it's too warm to make snow in Colorado for a a good week now and the forecast is not good.

But Cross your fingers and
THINK SNOW !!!!
