Happy Birthday To Me!

Today is my 28th Birthday. It was earlier this past year that I decided that I was done living the rat-race most of us learn to endure. I am done with the social constructs that I have been so aware of for so long! I am done trying to find balance in my life. The balance between what I am passionate about and what society tells us we need to do. Done, sir, done! I am finally ready to hike, ski, climb, explore my life away. I am confident that I will find a sustainable way to do so!

June is my deadline. Come June I am ditching my career, ten years in the IT Business. Ten years of working for the man. I'm taking my resume to the shredder! Two years ago, I would have thought I was being irresponsible. Today, I see it as a first step to being happy and productive for the rest of my life! The first step to finally becoming me and tending to the passion and desires I was born with. The first step in the ascent of a lifetime. That is, the never ending climb we call life! Most people aren't even aware of the things that motivate us.. What a waste it would be to limit them to just weekends and holidays. This is life, my life, and so it is!

Ahh, youth!

Being (+) twice that age, I can barely remember 28

Many Happy re-Turns

Play smart!

I'm up there with RR and though I barely remember 28 I do remember it as a good age to be having fun! Not sure what IT skills you have, but maybe you should consider BEING the man - if you work for yourself then you set the hours...

Happy Birthday to YOU!

When I turned 40 I ditched my career AND became the (wo)man. Started a renewable energy development business. Failed. Went back to the law firm I was at before. But the point is I did it. No, seriously, follow your bliss. And if it does not go where you want, follow another one. I'm still looking for mine. Good luck to you.

Happy birthday and enjoy the powder. Do what you have to do as life is too short. I did and I have no regrets.

Good for you, man! I'm all for looking inward at what inspires you and making a life of it. Screw doing things for the sake of "it's what you should do". Those rules were written by people too afraid to live without health insurance or the knowledge of where their next meal might come from. Not saying you're going to starve, but surely the most righteous path is not the easiest. If you come at it all from a place of truthfulness, even the hard times will be well worth it, and you may even find situations falling into your lap that will put you on a new path, one that fulfills the inner needs and the bank account all at the same time. And that my friend, is the best of both worlds. I wish you the best of luck!

A happy and hearty birfday to you! Congrats on realizing that you determine what YOU should do with yourself. Good luck. I did that years ago and now I'm the man and loving the life I live! I don't make much but the peace f mind and quality of life is priceless! I'm not on this planet to make money... I'm here to live and experience this amazing journey called life!

Yeah, what 8's said!
Plus, I'm really having fun (apart from the day job that pays the bills) as I continue to collect those ski archives that will generate future prospects to work with more ski areas on their historically-related marketing initiatives. Not sure that it'll ever be enough to live comfortably on, but I'm sure having a good time along the way. And isn't THAT what it's all about? The joy on the journey?
So, 8's, where ya goin' tom'w? I'll be at Suicide Six today and prolly tom'w as well (free, since I work at the Woodstock Inn).... don't laugh, it may be small, but I was STILL skiing untracked pow in the woods there this past week from that six-eight inch storm from two weeks ago! Why? Very few skiers there, and even fewer still (like, NONE) in the woods with me!

I'm looking at hitting Cardigan... hopefully few have gone up there today and tracked it out.... EARLY is my plan.
