karhu xcd tour boot or alpina bc 1550??

New guy here. A little background... I bought track skis (real skinny, no edge), "boots" (as much support as a sock) and poles at play it again sports for $50 total. We have one small cc area that grooms (NE Ohio) so I've been going to golf courses and metroparks. In any event, totally hooked.....

Just bought Atomic Sierra (older model '06?; no wax; 70/60/65; full metal edge) skis and NNN BC Magnum bindings. Want to know your suggestions / comments about the karhu xcd tour boot and the alpina bc 1550. Can only buy one of them so compare if possible.

Also, I am an intermediate to advanced downhill/alpine skier. Would like to try to practice telemark turn on the new equipment I bought. Is this realistic? Or will I be limited to controlled snowplow? I understand equipment has advanced, but isn't this set up comparable to what the "old school" used?

Thanks for your reply, sorry if this should go in the "gear" section.

Kirk

love the rugged touring stuff!

i too ski 70-60-65 (fischer outbound) w/ partial metal edge, rotti nnn bc manual (not magnum) and the bc 1550 boot and couldn't be happier. i skied some new snobounds tonight (77-61-69) same 179 length as my outbound, and didn't like the added width/sidecut. they didn't tour nearly as nicely as my outbounds due to the shape and didn't turn any better in the 8-10 inches of fluff that i was skiing via headlamp tonight. i've also skied the tenth mountain with excursions which were fun for the down, but not fun for the tour in comparison, so i'm stickin to my outbounds for all tour/turn. absolutely love my bc 1550 boots due to the weight/support.

worried about tele/parallel with a 70-60-65 ski with light boots? check the vid below of me on my outbounds last april at black mountain in after they closed for the season.
