Next, you go for some railing on hand rails!

Arboretum reps! RS and I were skiing that very glade a couple of storms ago. Not bad for the middle of Boston!

Nice job finding my favorite urban stash - thousands live within a 1/2 mile, and it will still lie mostly untracked for days after a storm.

How quickly things change...
LOL
Yesterday, 3/8, not a week later, and I ran through the Arboretum with shorts and a tee on... peppered with families, dogs, and a cop on a horse.
It must be spring in New England, this morning the rain turned to snow

Indeed, I just returned last night from 4 day trip to Jackson Hole - where it snowed nearly every day, almost 24" in the last 4 days. When I left Boston we were still digging out, only to come back to bare grass. Look for Jackson Hole TR as soon as I can upload pics from camera.
Back to the Arboretum - it is a great place (all seasons), probably best explored on X-C gear, but there are many nice downhill pitches, though not very long, if you look for them. So its not by a long shot but nonetheless. And the best part is its minutes instead of hours from home.

You bet it's spring in Boston -- yesterday, I was in shorts, t-shirt and getting a tan. Today, I've got my ski jacket on and scraping a "wintry mix" from my windshield.
Everytime I go to the Arboretum, I look into the woods and say to myself that that would make a good tree run. Nice to know that you're allowed to ski in there. I thought that since the trees and plants were being cultivated, any off-path activities was discouraged. Something new to do on a snow day!

I object to the Boyfriend's (PwdrHound's) comment that I've never eyed those lines at the Arboretum. Not only have I eyed them with every storm (they are right out my office window), but on a lunch break my BOSS and I have skied them! AND I've skied the road, which is really nice before they plow it.
If the current snow fall keeps up, it'll be skiable in an hour.
I should add PwdrHound thought I wouldn't have eyed it thinking the hill is a small one. It is, but it has decent prominence and you can lengthen the run by swirling around the hill instead of going straight down. Hey, lunchtime skiing is still skiing.
