Weekend Weather 3.7.09

What's the call, spring skiing all around? NOAA seems to say 44 and sunny for Burke & Cannon, 49 for Sunapee light winds. The million dollar question is will it soften? Southern exposure only? Not talking rockpile here just day trippin.

GoS was locked up pretty solid until after 12 when the overcast lifted and wind mellowed out. Lots of snow up there.

well, skiied

Cranmore today for the Hannes Schneider and it was completely awesome, perfect spring skiing conditions, but Cran has that exposure, currently raining in Thornton but last check showed Cannon getting, uh, maybe some snow, conditions there today were sketch in the a.m. but spring good off the Peabody after the sun hit it -

huh, ya i was watching the webcam from work and saw the george cap just hangin on relentlessly all mornin. i've spent many a day up there just waitin and waitin for the temps, sun, or lack of wind to work the magic up there and many day, it never happened.

folks from work skinned up to hojos hopin to ski somethin. they got up there around 11am as the ranger was warning folks of sliding falls. wouldn't you know, as my coworker looked up at hillmans he got to witness 2 skiers sliding for life down hillmans with one ski each, bounding down behind them.

like i've told touring partners b4 when they mentioned falling due to firm conditions in the heat of the moment. my reply is always, "don't fall, falling is not an option here, there is no reason to fall"
did ya get some soft skiing after all?

some soft is better than no soft. skied the seacoast this morning in very soft conditions. hoping the dream lasts a bit longer, thankful for everyday.
