Loaf 10-13-9/ 2,800 ft. of continous vert!

October turns have always eluded me due to; work, school, etc. Not this year got out of work @12p hiking the loaf @2p. (photos all from cell phone, need a new digi. cam) Not very much down low 1-2" of sticky, wet snow.
down low coating and foliage

[IMG][/IMG]
about half way up 3-4"
[IMG][/IMG]
old gondi. station on top, even creepier today, being no other souls in sight.
[IMG][/IMG]
stairs that lead to the back of the building. 6" of light, fluffy pow!
[IMG][/IMG]
no measuring stick? use my XL glove around 6" to start my run.
[IMG][/IMG]
time to start ridin
[IMG][/IMG]
trax ( due to crappy phone cam, hard to make out trax) trax pics taken about half way down, was having to much fun up top, didn't want to stop to take pix.
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
more great snow!
[IMG][/IMG]

all in all a very memorable afternoon! snow on top 6" of fluffy pow, snow got heavier and stickier on the way down with not much at bottom, but awesome conditions from top of superquad to the summit. hopefully these won't be my last turns for this month

Thinking of your title "2,800 ft. of continous vert...."

back some years... wow, 15 years ago - before American Ski company (once ='d Sunday River) purchased there was this sign not too far from the top of long side DR-Chair.

"if you were at Sunday River you would be at the top now"

This sign was basically about what felt like 1.783 % of the way up sugarloaf you were already higher then the highest point of Someday bigger (but never taller).

This however statement ended up being a double entendre and it never worked in Sugarloaf's favor. This was 'cause when someone who'd typically have skied the river would read it they'd say with chattering teeth "Hell ya, I'd be at the top by now because every chair at the River is high speed"

We usually just left them think what they wanted, people have always been good for the sugarloaf echnomoy but would just screw with your skiing.

Oh ya forgot to add. The day American Ski "acquired" good ol'Sugarload, that sign came down.

We'd all figured the suits down at the River had been salivating over that sign for years...

I use to love that sign, skiing as a kid I went to sunday river and shawnee peak most often and loaf only a few times per year. that sign let me knew who was boss in maine and the loaf seemed so big compared to those other hills.. (because it is)

That sign didn't just come down, it moved to Les Otten's office at SR...
