TR - Cannon Dec 13

"Get out of my hair!"

Okay, not said like that but is still amounted to a Hall Pass so I checked the interwebs and decided on a day trip somewhere up I-93. Breakfast included 800mg vitamin I.

A few enroute calls revealed some places were closed or barely open so $33 for a lift ticket at Cannon won the day.

Visualizations worked...that is I skied like I wanted to while the legs were fresh. The knee behaved itself. So I started up the Peabody Q at 11:15, took two runs and went for a veggie cheeseburger. There was a pair of Crossbows against the fence so I put mine next to them and went in to see the new construction and get lunch.

Got three more runs, part of the next to last run was good but it was clear my legs were getting a bit rubbery....as proof, sloppy turns, bad timing and chagrin.

The last run was a little better, but it was an act of will to get tired legs to do what they should.
The real shocker! I was all done at 1:15

Worked out pretty well as the snow was falling by Lincoln and after shopping at the NHSLS at Hooksett I saw the road cover getting slick. Took Rt3 and even so there were spinouts and wrinkled car parts strewn here and there.

Color me satisfied

2 trails open, parking lots full, cold temps....

Took my fat skis out to test them on ice, and tests were successful.

The repair shop is getting good business from out of bounds skiers....

Good job getting out there, RR.

Midweek bliss tomorrow...

Yeah baby! Good for you to go for it and then know when to stop.

Most ski days I go with 800 vitamin I in the morning and more often than not another 800 when I get home.

pretty nice imo.

That is, considering that they built the ski area on the wind blasted side of the mountain and ...

well, never mind about all that.

The snow was soft for most of the lower half and getting to it from the top of PQ involved soft bumps mixed in with a few firm ones in Easy Link. I avoided Middle Cannon as I have always been skeptical of its ability to hold snow....I have noted that for many years it is especially suited to holding boilerplate and water ice!
