PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM UPPER PARADISE WHEN DOING EARLY SEASON TURNS. Many thanx.
From the MRG Shareholder Update:
Skiers may have noticed last season that there was a fairly major slide on the top of Paradise just below the ice fall. A generous grant fromthe Stark Mountain Foundation has enabled us to tackle this problem head on. Under the leadership of Jon Cohen and George Amenta, the work crew removed rock in the slide and then leveled the area. They also dug a water bar to channel water away and installed a biodegradable erosion control blanket specifically designed for steep terrain and finally the area was seeded. The blanket should stay in place for about two years before it degrades, by then the slope should be stabilized. We encourage hikers and the "earn your turn" crowd to please stay off of Paradise so that the slide area can be protected. Once the ski season starts we will open Paradise as normal but may wait a bit longer than normal for the snowpack to develop in an effort to further protect this fragile zone. Hopefully Mother Nature will help us in this regard. Thanks to the crew for doing such a great job and to the Stark Mountain Foundation for making this critical project possible.
