Smile MLK Weekend Madness

Well I convinced Wifey to take MLK Monday off and make a three-day ski weekend, and we booked a room at Joe Dodge Lodge for Saturday and Sunday night. I immediately questioned my decision, after the dumping that western MA got. However, we made an early start of it on Saturday morning and headed up the Alexandria.

Snow depth wasn't great, but enough. As a prior poster had noted, there were snow snakes, lurking.
At PJ Ledge a nice chap took our photo. Now we have an up-to-date picture for Mom. Hi Mom!

If you're very still, you can hear the snow snakes, just below the surface:

We enjoyed the descent so much,

that we did little more touring:

Sunday we got up early and broke trail through a little bit of fresh on the GOS:

.. and Wifey got the goods on the descent:

A satisfied customer:

After a quick nap we did a lap of the Sherbie, which by that point was pretty skied off, windy, and cold.
BBQ pulled pork, and mac & cheese care of the Pinkham Crü helped offset the caloric deficit.
Today we did a few hours of touring at the Great Glen Ski Center.

Cheers,

RL

Very cool, a trifecta. GOS looked like a lot of fun.

yup

On Monday the day dawned clear, as mtd2007 showed in his posting. The left snowfields looked like they could use a little more fill, but fun, but the gullies looked a bit boney for me, but a competent soul could take them on.

The night before I did a recon of the GOS and ran into Phil. He was also scoping out, and was rocking a pair of skinny tele's and no skins, just wax. Amazingly, on Sunday morning he was making upward progress on his two-wax system. I'm impressed.

The tracks on the lookers right are actually mine. I have learned well from the master of the Wasatch-style-powder-conservation-shortswing-turn. And lap 4 was pretty damn good... but I dunno, lap 2 might have been a bit better, at least down low. I dunno, who cares, all 4 plus the cog run were awesome!
