TR: Standing around a blazing fire, drinking and contemplating Flatbread...

Seeker, rider.Steve, Peter L. and YHS started skiing at a civilized hour on Saturday morning and laid off before three. In between we were elevating and de-evlevating in fat pow near Camel's Rump.

Many turns in untracked and, all-in-all, one of the best days of the season. Excellent company, good brew, beautiful dogs sporting about.

Adjournment to cleanup and continuing the proceedings at American Flatbread in Irasville...hence the thread title.

Pix to follow.

PS I will be returning to the above skiing location

PPS Saturday nights refills made for some stupendous first of the season tracks in a paricularly wild zone a little off the res at MRG. Peter L and YHS managed to find some glorious turns in deep, deep snow before it turned into a thrash.

Mmmm... flatbread!

How does theirs compare to North Conway?

And more importantly, sounds like a great tour!

This one is the original, right at the farm.

Let's put it this way, if you show up at 6:30 you will be seated no sooner than 8:30 on Staurday nights. Fortunately their Tap Selections and Wine List are excellent.

In witer there's just one fire going outside, but in summer there are two fires and additional seating. We were honored by the company of one of the barn cats. I'm quite certain the cat enjoyed the company of the three girls who took turns letting him sit on their laps as he watched for fire sprites.

I can't offer any documentation for the sunday MRG thrash 'cause I was on-piste, but I've got a few tidbits from Rump day.

Robrox ascending

Shilling for O.R. (hey, we wear gloves!) and La Gloria Cubana

Lapping it up

(and Seeker beyond the thwack).

Seeker, "Knockout Blonde" (and Lawson's Finest), afterwards by the fire

It was a most excellent weekend with most excellent company! And wow, that pizza is well worth the wait. Of course the Lawson's Blonde Ale and an excellent CA Pinot helped--along with fine conversation and watching the wee one's run about.

Sorry no pics from Sat. adventure, but it was one of the best. After adventuring on one side, we floated out over pillowy, untouched low-angle goodness.

Sunday was a fine day at MRG. After I spent the morning on a couple of my own off-piste adventures, RS and I enjoyed many laps off the single and double due to nonexistent lift lines. Rider is definitely taking to tele sliding. Interesting too as they claimed only 7 to 9 inches, and I can accurately report that there was a lot more than that in the trees.

Great weekend. We skied it because we could.

Awesome - glad you got to George's place, the original Lareau Farm. I haven't been there for years since they've changed their "reservation" policy, and we never know in advance when we're going to finish at the Sugarbush clinic. Several years ago they opened a branch right in downtown Burlington, which is open 7 days a week and is much easier to get into, so that's where I've been going for my flatbread fix.

Will he have to change his handle to "knee-bender Steve"?

Definitely not! I don't see a full-on switch happening; just augmenting his sliding tools.

While I have to admit I've never dined at the farm, the Burlington Hearth is quite possibly one of the most sublime places on Earth. Besides having an already fantastic beer selection, they brew some really great beers. This being mainly because they're one of the few smaller breweries that brews a damn lager style ale!! Usually they're so few and far between (Moat's Czech Pilsner and their Maerzen spring to mind...mmmm) but my first legal beer in this country was a Zero Gravity Muenchen Helles, and boy, it was delicious. Since then I've enjoyed just going to their bar and having a beer or two, even without pizza.

My Neice's wedding, held in Warren, was well enough attended we wound up staying at Lambeau Farm. Many of the Inns in the valley had one or more of the wedding guests. LF had nine or ten families up for the wedding. Very pretty hiking on the property, really fine for small children

Our room was very cozy and the food at the banquet was just as one would expect....marvelous!

Nice! Looks deep there! I was in that part of the neighborhood this weekend. Skied with a friend at Sugarbush and ended up doing the Sidebrook sidecountry in great conditions. Found some untracked and deep stashes. Sunday would have been the "Rump" but cheap tickets to Smuggler's Notch (never been) made me put away the skins. Hoping for more storms in Northern VT this winter so I can get some of what you guys had.

The camera battery finally warned of low battery so I stopped shooting. That's six shooting days with no recharge..sorry about the lack of action shots but I'm happy about the battery life anyway.... now I know
