tux easter sunday

@ 8:45 I skinned up to the ranger station. nice snow on the TRT, took me about an hour forty. grabbed a bite at the ranger station & all lines were low avy which I was happy to hear. there was a cloud cover at the top of the ravine but clear in the valley. Hit the trail up to the bowl and booted up over to the right of the lip and into the snowfields. there was about 3 inches of new wet snow. skied heavy wet snow into the bottom section of snowfields over the lip and down to the sherburne and back to the car for a beer. not often I get to do a solo up and done. a good day to say the least...

Was just about to post a TR for yesterday but since you already got one going I'll just add to this one.

Djming and I got an early start and also had some nice runs in the morning.

baffling why no one was skiing lobster claw, it was in great shape

Also hit the lip in the morning (thought I was the first one to ski it from above but maybe not). My favorite run of the day.

Wrote up a full trip report Here if anyone wants to check it out.

A fun (and heavy snow) day indeed! Was wondering if anyone got the snowfields.

Good get

I was biking yesterday morning and it occurred to me I should have been up on George this weekend not last.

Looks like the next 4-5 weeks should be prime up there as things soften. What a year we are still having.

Nice write-up on your site Drew. Good to ski-ya, thanks for the company.
Staying on old-surface was the ticket. After my run in right (why everyone was booting up climber's left side of right I will never understand...), Drew yells that he's heading up the lip. Too many following him, so I decide to go back to Lobster Claw with thoughts of a slightly different variation. Halfway up I got to see Drew making real nice turns down the lip, and yes I think he was the first to take it from the top Sunday. Top of Lobster Claw STILL appeared we were the only ones to have skied it (2 guys were ahead of me but they must have continued higher), so my original plan was replaced by another smooth Claw run. 2nd time down even better than the first!
The Hillman's finale was more a recon mission for me as I had some thoughts for a follow-up today. Which was highly successful (more on that in a bit)

Yes, you absolutely should have done at least one run there. Still very full, but beginning to creep down from the ridge so you can't ski into from Lion's Head trail. Love that run, just so nice and consistent.

It's April. Most people up there now are utterly unfamiliar with the typical wind-loading patterns.

Word to the wise: boot up the Right side of Right Gully, it's often less of an avy risk.
