Thumbs up East Snowfields 5/6/12

What a day in the east snowfields yesterday - got 3 amazing laps of perfect creamed corn after our approach up Lion Head then descended the same trail. We were at the intended site for Slackfest and there's plenty of vertical left. This was my first time in the snowfields but it sure won't be my last! We were amazed that we didn't meet up with more ski-toting people on the trail. There were only 2 others in the snowfields while we were there.

Nice! Always happy to hear things are holding up. It's got a nice pitch, right around 30 degrees I'd guess...just perfect for skiing and riding. One of my faves!

Looked at it in the Obs Webcam this AM...bluebirdy as of 8:16 AM, May7. Looks like 500 feet of vert, maybe a tic more.

Imagine the place packed with kids and dogs, geezers in lawn chairs...tropical shirts and good things grilling...

Yup, my clinometer (they got an app for that, too!) showed 30-33 degrees at various locations. Look forward to checking out this Slackfest event!

Ha! Not enough signal for "Ski Tracks" to work but there was certainly "a few" hundred feet of vertical.

Nice! Yes, quite the hike for that but, I guess we're all a little nuts for snow around here! Way to go!

Planning on being back up there tomorrow morning; hope to see you guys there! Should freeze up good tonight and supposed to warm tomorrow. Three of us staying at Hermit Lake tonight. I expect that we'll have enough breeze to keep the bugs off.

Cigar smoke signals the bugz that the woods are on fire so they fly away!

Have fun with that fresh canvas
