Thumbs up 200 Days till Tuckerman 2003

Hey Everyone:

With 200 days until my planned 2003 trip, I was wondering if anyone had any recomendations on exersizes to get in shape for the hike? Heading up with the 60+pnd back to spend a few nights usually KILLS me. Last year I though about sleeping under a tree 1/2 way up I was so miserable.

mshepard,

Site contains some pretty good stuff re: exercises for hiking, mountaineering, skiing, etc.

My exercise regiem is has become a yearly pursuit to stay in shape (running all year, hiking, and gym for weights). I torture myself all year for skiing and ultimately with Tucks tirps in mind.

Hope this helps.

Wink

Of course I forgot to mention the one arm 16 oz. curl with a twist at the end. I usually use Coors Light for this exercise although I have become partial to micro brews. Especially Red Rack from one of my favortie places, the Woodstock Station in North Woodstock.

Talk later.

I recommend you start making many trips during the season. Start when the snow is actualy good: Jan. Bring a little bit each time and leave it under the snow. Then come Spring, you can make your big trip without carrying much. Of course, save the bulk of the beer for the final journey. And of course, any food you bring may freeze to preserve freshness. But it will still be gone by the following morning (animals, hungry poor boarders, lost skiers etc.)

Hey guys,

I am not sure I can wait 200 days. I think I am going to try for a December trip. If the early snow out west comes our way we may be able to get a very early start. In September Mount Washington got twice their average snowfall for the Month. Should that happen in October and November we could be looking at 20 - 30 inches on the ground in December. They skied Silverton in Colorado in September with about that much.

This year I am starting off with some new equiptment and 50 lbs lighter and plan to start running soon as the cool weather is finally here. I HATE the summer heat.

I should be able to replace some of my weight with a few more brews in my pack.

Cheers!
