Tucks Photo Slideshow 4.8-10.05
Some photos from last weekend. Not too many action shots (I had the video camera out for those and am still working on the movie) but some good pics of Hillman's, Lobster Claw, Snowfields, etc. I got one of the headwall with two people on it, one above the last drop, one dropping in at the top; provides some good perspective. Slight quality issue with the zooming on each photo, but if anyone is interested in a raw photo (for planning a Headwall route or something!?!), let me know.

Excellent production quality and such a fine subject....
FC: how's about hooking up for a NE Slides tour next season? Several of us here have been to some nifty places well worth a visit..PM for details.

Thanks. I changed my desktop to the big headwall close up with the two guys on it. I can’t figure out if I’m tying to talk myself into skiing it or out of skiing it: pretty nervous either way.

Not to sound cliche .... Just do it. If you get up there....just do it. It'll be a big release of tension and fears and you'll feel high for the rest of the day. And remember, when you commit yourself NEVER SECOND GUESS YOUR MOVES! Hesitation while in motion causes accidents. I know from personal experience...over and over.... like a cartwheeling yardsale where all accessories are lost.
Work you way up to it would be the best approach, then it won't seem that hard.

I'm nervous about two things: reference points looking down, and un-killable speed into traverse lines, which i witnessed Sunday. I'm using the picture below to scare/prepare myself.

Oooooooh! Good choice of pics! Last time I dropped off the center falls there, I hucked my pack ahead of me so I wouldn't be encumbered by an awkward center of balance. Glad I did it, although I had to climb back up a little ways after I finally scrubbed the speed. I was like I kicked on afterburners and HAD to sit back just to keep my tips up to avoid the downslope rivers from grabbing me.

No doubt... It's a tough one...
You either have to climb what you ski or drop with someone that knows how to get to things...
We tried to traverse to the Chute last year and a couple of us ended up where your picture is... But it wasnt nearly as nice!

I cheat..... I've been taking copies of the most recent photos of the spots with me and then reviewing them while on top of them. Been doing it for a few years now and it has worked for me everytime! I started bringing pics with me because I too have popped into the wrong 'chute' a few times. I myself for not getting on top of the right line I wanted and wasted all that uphill energy only to do it again!
