"We did it!" is the shout of joy from us first timers. Setting out from Pinkham Notch at exactly 9:11 on Friday, we figured that something surely would go wrong. On the contrary, the day was superb - bluebird skies, not a cloud to be seen, tee shirt weather and the snow baked to perfection. We booted up to as far as a large rock below the "Lip" and made our humble descent from there. Entered the Little Headwall by the first aid cache and went down over the Cutler river until it opened up. From there it was tree skiing over to where Hillmans Highway lets out. We knew that our run was just about over when we could hear sighs of dissapointment ahead as we approched the "closed" sign on the Sherburne trail. We were suprised to see so many people in the bowl for a Friday - by my reckoning about 100 - 200.
Hope to come back again, a bit earlier in the season, to be able to ski all the way out.
